NOTES ON RIVER'S BEND

Type of course: Fictional

JNSE design by: Gordon Chisholm
                Jeremy Gibson

This course began to take shape when Jeremy put a note in the
In The Fairway section of AOL's Grandstand area. He was
looking for a design partner, and I answered the note.

I did the original landplot work, and hole layout; also
selecting the objects for the object file. Jeremy completed
holes #1, #2, #3, #7, #8, #9, #13, #14, and #15. I am
responsible for the even numbered holes. A very slight bit of
cosmetic work was completed on Jeremy's holes to make them
match what I had done. The work does not affect the way the
holes play as initially layed out by Jeremy. The cosmetic
work consisted of trimming the tee blocks, making slight
adjustments in the bunkers, and adding hole signs, ball
washers, and benches.

The objects for this course were "borrowed" from many
existing courses. Designers needing to be thanked include
Scott Chesney, Lee Ritze, Dan Raftery, and two or three
others that I don't recall right now. To any and all
designers whose objects were used, we wish to say a heartfelt
Thank You.

The color pallette is a modified version of the palette used
by Lee Ritze on Troublesome Creek. I made some small changes
in Lee's pallette because I wanted a slightly different look
than what Lee achieved with Troublesome Creek.

The course features water in close proximity to a great
number of the holes, but you should encounter no big amount
of trouble unless you play all over the course. Course
routing gives the stats of the course as 6341 yards, 35+36=71
but it is by no means an easy course.

The front nine consists of 3 par 3's, 4 par 4's, and 2 par
5's. The back contains 3 par 3's, 3 par 4's, and 3 par 5's.
Fairways dogleg both left and right, and some are
considerably narrow, and rather heavily trapped. Everything
on the course beyond the normal rough should be heavy rough;
there should be no out of bounds. There are some blind shots
which will require you to make a precise shot; in fact, precise
shots will be required on most holes. With the longest hole being
just slightly in excess of 500 yards, there are very few
"grip it and rip it" opportunities.

We hope you will enjoy your round on our course. We are both
available for comments on America Online.
