                             Joe Blankenship

Created in November 1992, this course is set in the Snake River Gorge area
of Idaho in the Western United States. It's a par 72 that plays approx.
6900 yards. This edition of Firecreek is an update of a course that I designed some time ago in JNUG. When I created the original design, I had
received a supplement to the Dallas Morning News (Golf in Texas section)
and recreated their list of the 18 toughest holes in Texas. I had played
4 of the course represented and tried to make the most difficult course
that I could in JNUG and did. There was water on almost every hole and
  400 + yard par 4's and a couple 600 + yard par 5's. All the par 3's in
that edition were in the 200 + yard catagory. That edition (JNUG) was in
excess of 7600 yards, as I recall, and would have been very unplayable
  with the JNSE program.

In this edition, I've taken the basic holes and made some yardage changes,
removed most of the water, and remade the course to look like the Idaho
area in which it's located. There was, in the distant past, a lot of
volcanic activity in this part of the country, so you'll find quite a lot
of rocks and sage and other scrub brush vegatation.

This version has my first original background in it. All the other designs
that I've made have utilized borrowed backgrounds (some modified) from other
designers. The objects used on Firecreek were borrowed primarily from Mark
Willett's various courses and Lee Ritze's St Andrews course although they
were all modified to fit the area in which this course is located.

I want to thank Mike Burdulis (Giz), Ron Enfield, Craig Clemans, and Randy
Barr for doing the play testing on Firecreek and for the hints and suggested
  changes they made.

I hope you have many enjoyable rounds of golf on this course and will respond
with your comments about it. If you do like it and would like to get other
courses that I've designed, you can reach me through Prodigy (DFBG71A) or by
writing to me at: P O Box 16521; Memphis, TN 38186.
