ARTISOFT ANNOUNCES LANTASTIC(R) FOR
TCP/IP CONNECTIVITY SYSTEM

Newest Product In LANtastic Connectivity
Series To Be Developed Jointly With
Wollongong Group, Inc.

	(TUCSON, AZ -- September 14, 1992) --
Artisoft, Inc. announced today that it
has entered into a joint development
agreement with The Wollongong Group,
Inc. to create the newest product in the
LANtastic Connectivity Series, the
LANtastic for TCP/IP connectivity
system. Priced at $299 per node and
scheduled to ship this Fall, this
product will allow a workstation on a
LANtastic network to access a wide range
of systems throughout the network
including DEC VAX, HP and Sun
workstations, IBM(R) mainframes, and NCR
and AT&T minicomputers. TCP/IP is one of
the leading network protocols used by
mid-range systems in corporate
computing. Artisoft's commitment to the
TCP/IP platform significantly broadens
the company's business reach and marks
an important step forward for the
evolution of the peer-to-peer market.
	"As the peer-to-peer network industry
matures, we are striving to meet the
market's demand for broader
communications across multiple hardware
and software platforms," stated Jack
Schoof, Artisoft Chairman & CEO. "By
entering into this relationship with
Wollongong, we will be able to develop a
product which will allow users to access
applications, files and printers on any
VMS, UNIX or IBM host without additional
hardware."
	The LANtastic for TCP/IP network
provides powerful terminal emulators
that enable users to access
applications, share printers, and
transfer and manipulate files residing
on remote hosts, just as if the users
were directly connected. It supports
many TCP/IP applications, terminal
emulations, printing services, and
protocols; is compatible with
Microsoft(R) Windows(TM) and
Wollongong's host TCP/IP products;
offers a low RAM overhead; and supports
up to 255 users simultaneously.
The LANtastic for TCP/IP system is
designed specifically for LANtastic
networks and supports two major modes of
operation. The centralized TCP/IP server
is the recommended mode, in which a PC
on the network is setup as the TCP/IP
server for all TCP/IP users on the
network. The other mode, using multiple
servers, allows users to run the TCP/IP
software on their local machines.
	Applications supported include Domain
Name Service, a centralized host name
database that facilitates user lookups;
TELNET, which provides the basis for
terminal emulation including
local/remote echo and suppress go-ahead;
and File Transfer Services, both FTP and
FTP server. FTP allows users to
manipulate and transfer files between
the local system and a remote host and
the FTP server provides access to PC
file systems including LAN file servers.
FTP server is capable of running in the
background and supports concurrent
TELNET, FTP and LPR applications. Other
applications supported include popular
UNIX R-commands, the PING Internet
Control message protocol, and the
industry-standard Network File System
(NFS).
	Terminal emulations supported include
DEC VT (with mouse support in Windows
environments), IBM Display Station
(screen sizes, color support, extended
attributes and status line), Keyboard
Remapping between PC keyboards and DEC
VT or 3270 style keyboards, Multiple
Sessions (up to 25 individual session
can be established concurrently,
dependent on available system memory)
and Third Party Terminal Emulation
Support.
