ARTISOFT NOW SHIPPING ITS LANTASTIC(R) FOR
MACINTOSH(R) CONNECTIVITY SYSTEM

Complete Hardware/Software Kit and Software-Only
System Now Available

	(TUCSON, AZ -- September 14, 1992) --
Artisoft, Inc. announced today that its
LANtastic for Macintosh connectivity system has
begun shipping. This system is available in two
versions: a complete hardware/software solution
and a software-only kit. The complete solution
includes LANtastic for Macintosh software, a
Local Talk(TM) adapter card, cable and user's
manuals for the software and adapter, priced at
$799. The software-only system includes
LANtastic for Macintosh software, a user's
manual and driver programs for EtherTalk(R),
Local Talk and Token Ring adapters, priced at
$599.
"As more and more Macintosh computers are
being integrated into the corporate environment,
the need for Macintosh support is becoming
increasingly evident, " commented Jack Schoof,
Artisoft's Chairman & CEO. "Artisoft is the
first PC local area networking company to offer
a total peer-to-peer solution for Macintosh
connectivity."
  	The LANtastic for Macintosh system
provides a transparent integration of Apple(R)
Macintosh(R) computers and PostScript(R)
printers into the LANtastic network operating
system environment and enables real-time file-
sharing between both environments.
	The LANtastic for Macintosh system
establishes a PC to serve as a dedicated gateway
between the Macintosh and LANtastic networks. PC
servers on the LANtastic network are set up as
logical drives on the gateway PC and appear as
slightly modified computer icons to users on the
Macintosh network. Thus, Macintosh users see PC
files and directories as they would standard
Macintosh files and directories and can use the
Chooser to select printers attached to the
LANtastic network.
Slightly different for PC users, the
LANtastic for Macintosh system establishes a
dedicated gateway PC where users can access
PostScript printers on the Macintosh network and
can see Macintosh files saved onto the gateway
PC's hard drive. This can all be done from their
own LANtastic interface.
Both PC and Macintosh users can access the
other files that use the same file format [i.e.
Microsoft(R) Word and Excel or Aldus(R)
PageMaker(R)]. File attributes and record-
locking are supported in both directions. In
addition, any PostScript-compatible printer --
even non-AppleTalk(R) interface printers such as
Hewlett Packard's LaserJet(R) series -- can be
shared simultaneously among all workstations,
both Macintosh and PC.
Artisoft develops and manufactures a full
line of hardware and software for local area
networks including the LANtastic Local Area
Network. The LANtastic network is recognized as
the leader in peer-to-peer networking for DOS
and Windows(TM) environments and has won
numerous industry awards for its cost-effective
features, performance and ease of use. It allows
up to 300 users of IBM(R) -compatible computers
to connect and share information and peripheral
devices such as printers, hard drives and CD-
ROMs. Artisoft distributes the LANtastic network
and its other connectivity products in over 70
countries worldwide and maintains international
offices in The Netherlands, the United Kingdom,
France, Germany, Italy, Latin America, Australia
and Japan.
