Wearable art design tip

I just learned a new trick to judge designs for wearable textile art. From
your favorite catalogue, tear out pages depicting models showing silouettes you
might weave. With an exacto knife, cut away the clothing, leaving just the
model. You slide this over your fabric sample or painted picture of fabric, or
even color computer printout to get an idea of how your clothing will look.
This is great when planning different weaves or colors for different parts of
the garment. The tip came from Rachael Emmons at a Weaver Educator's Reunion
Weekend.
