                                 AEGUN2.TXT

Here's yet another guns variant for the Me-109G and the P-51D.

The P-51D will be modified to reflect the actual ammo loads
   for the 6 X .50 cal. MGs - 4 MGs with 270 rounds each and 2 MGs
with 400 rounds each. I'll save you from having to do the math
by telling you that this totals up to 1,880 rounds which, when
averaged over 6 MGs, comes to 313 rounds per MG and that explains
why there are 313 round per gun for the P-51D.

The modification for the Me-109G will change the 30mm cannon
with 60 rounds to a 20mm cannon with 200 rounds. This mod
is based upon some more common versions of the "Gustav" than
the G-10 modeled in the sim - the G-5 and G-14 among others.

To install these mods, simply copy the appropriate .GL and .GLT
files into your main AoE directory. If you don't like the mods,
simply delete these files from your main AoE directory. That's
   all there is to it.

For those who want every little detail right, I have also
included a .BAT and .TXT file for each A/C. The effect of running
the appropriate .BAT file is to change the pre-mission briefing
screen text contained in the armaments box. It is not necessary
to run the .BAT files to have the new armament function. The
.BAT files require that you have a stand-alone copy of the AoE
file ORDNCE0.DAT in your main AoE directory. If such is not the
case, there is a way that you can get ORDNCE0.DAT in the
   stand-alone version:

        download AMB-U1.ZIP and extract ACE-OUT.EXE and ACE-OUT.DOC;
read ACE-OUT.DOC and follow the instructions. The archive
file which contains ORDNCE0.DAT is SHELL1.DYN

I strongly urge you to download AMB-U1.ZIP just to get the ACE-OUT.*
files as they are invaluable tools for anyone wishing to make
modifications to the AoE files. Even though ACE-OUT.EXE was written
to extract files for AotP, it works just fine for AoE data files.

Thanks to Doug/Dynamix for suggesting these mods.

And now for the psuedo-legal announcement:

DYNAMIX neither approves of nor supports any modifications to
any of their AOE files. You perform any modification at your
own risk. I have tested these mods and they both work and have
had no ill effects on either the AOE software or my computer
system. Still, Murphy's Law thrives in computers so should
something go awry after you've installed either or both of these
mods, please contact me and give me your symptoms. I'll then try
to come up with a fix (or a good excuse).
