TITLE: Using the Intel Above Board Microchannel 2Plus
PRODUCT: Ami Pro 1.2b
DATE: 02-Aug-1991

PROBLEM:

Using an Intel Above Board Microchannel 2Plus with 286 SAE runtime Windows,
during loading the program locks up at the runtime logo screen if EMM.SYS
provided with the Above Board is used. If HIMEM.SYS and EMM.SYS are used, a
message produced by the EMM.SYS driver appears indicating that memory is
already being managed by another memory manager. Ami Pro will load, but the
keyboard locks when File / Import/Export is chosen.

SOLUTION:

The following information is provided by Intel customer support and has not
been confirmed by the Word Processing Division of Lotus Development Corp.

 1. Use the EMM.SYS file provided with the Intel Above Board rather than
EMM.SYS provided with the 286 SAE runtime Windows.
 2. Version 4.0 revision C or D of EMM.SYS is required. This version can be
obtained from the Intel's bulletin board at 503-645-6275.
 3. Add the following line to the CONFIG.SYS file (if a device line for
EMM.SYS already exists, edit the line as follows):
    DEVICE=EMM.SYS MOD50 DOS EXTF=1408

IMPORTANT: This is the setting for a 2Plus board with 4MB of memory for an IBM
PS/2 Model 50. Please contact Intel at 503-629-7000 for information about
other Above Board configurations or if DOS 5.0 is being used.
