After doing Firestone, Harbour Town was an about face for me. The
course was done in 1969 by Pete Dye with consultation from Jack Nicklaus.
Harbour Town was the first of what are now called "target golf" courses,
courses which define the method of play, from drive to approach. The fairways
are narrow and the greens are tiny, so small in fact that the largest one is
only thirty-eight yards deep. The design was based on the theory that long is
not necessary better. Firestone is the exact opposite, with a difference of
360 yards and larger greens.
Dye cut his teeth on this course with his railroad tie bunkers and
his theory on strategy rather than strength, preparing himself for such
adventures as the TPC at Sawgrass and Oak Tree in Edmond, Oklahoma. This is
a course where the top players rise to the top, such as Tom Watson, Nick
Faldo, Greg Norman and Payne Stewart.
The JNU design was done by myself, using the books "Golf Courses of
the PGA Tour" , "The Golf Courses of Jack Nicklaus", "The World Atlas of Golf"
a shotbook and scorecard from the course itself and viewing the most recent
Heritage Open.
I would also like to thank Scott Chesney for his lighthouse in the
background from his version of Harbour Town.
Thanks once again for having enough interest to download this one.

Other courses I've also been involved with designing:
The TPC at Southwind (Federal Express Open)
Firestone C.C. (World Series of Golf-south course)
The TPC at Avenel (Kemper Open)
Forest Oaks C.C. (K-Mart Greater Greensboro Open)
TPC at Scottsdale (Greater Phoenix Open)
        Kingsmill G.C.
