NCR PC8, PC8-10

*CUSTOMER REPORTS* of compatibility between this 80286-based system and
current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic boards. There are also
reports of comptibility with the discontinued Above Board 286, PS/286, AT,
and PS/AT. The NCR system board has jumpers which must be set for only the
actual memory on the system board. Do not include any Intel memory board
amounts when determining jumper setting. Make sure bus is set at 1 wait
  state.

NEC POWERMATE I

*CUSTOMER REPORTS* of compatibility between this small-footprint 80286-
based computer and current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic boards.
There are a couple versions of this system.

8 Mhz Version: 8mhz, 1 wait state bus. Customer reports intermittent
parity errors when SETBOARD is set for 8mhz. Set the AB for 10mhz, 150ns
  chips.

8/10 Mhz Version: Bus speed follows processor speed. Set the Intel Memory
card for 10mhz, 150ns chips (in SETBOARD).

When this NEC system is set for 8mhz, the bus is operating at 8mhz with 1
wait state. When the system is set for 10mhz, the bus is operating at
  10mhz with 2 wait states.

NEC POWERMATE I PLUS

*CUSTOMER REPORTS* of limited compatibility with current Above Boards and
Matched Memory Classic boards in these small-footprint 80286-based
computers. These computers operate an 8 MHz data bus running at the IBM
Standard 1 wait state, switchable to 12 MHz and a non-standard 0 wait
  states.

Customers report Intel memory cards work at 8 MHZ but give intermittent
parity errors when set at 12 MHZ, probably due to the non-IBM AT Standard
  0 wait state bus.

NEC POWERMATE 286 PLUS

*CUSTOMER REPORTS* of INCOMPATIBILITY with current Above Boards and
Matched Memory Classic boards in these 80286-based computers.

Tech Notes: System apparently runs at 8 or 12MHz. It has 1meg of memory on
the system board. The system board memory is divided into 640K of
conventional memory and 384 reserved for system use, (might be
configurable for onboard EMS memory). This system runs it's data bus at 0
wait states instead of the IBM Standard of 1 wait state. It is over the
lack of IBM Standard wait states that Intel memory boards are
  incompatible.

NEC APC IV POWERMATE (8MHZ)

Compatible with current Above Boards, Matched Memory Classic boards, and
the discontinued Above Board 286 and PS/286.

Specify that the system is 10MHz in Setboard (even though it runs at
8MHz). If Automatic setboard is used, or if 8MHz is specified, the AB
  will not install properly.

NEC reports full compatibility with the discontinued Above Board AT & AB
  PS/AT.

NEC APC IV POWERMATE II (10MHZ)

Compatible with current Above Boards, Matched Memory Classic boards, and
  the discontinued Above Board 286 & PS/286.

In Setboard and specify 10mhz bus speed. If Automatic setboard is used,
or if 8MHz is specified, the Intel memory card will not install properly.

NORTHERN TELECOM M6000

*CUSTOMER REPORTS* of compatibility between current Above Boards and
Matched Memory Classic boards in these 8MHZ 80286-based computers. These
systems are switchable between a non-IBM AT Standard 0 wait state bus or 1
wait state. Set computer for 1 wait state when installing Intel memory
  boards.

Customers also report EMM 3.5 with an Above Board 286 causes lock ups in
these computers, newer versions of our software seem to work fine.

NORTHGATE 286

Compatible with current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic boards.

Tech Note: If system freezes after installing expanded memory, check for
Northgate 16-bit VGA board and switch it to 8-bit ROM by turning SW6 to
  OFF.

NOVELL 286B FILE SERVER

INCOMPATIBLE with Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic boards.
Dealer reports: This system has 16-bit slots, but will not support AT-
compatible add-in extended memory boards such as the Above Boards or
Matched Memory Classic boards. Must use Novell's proprietary extended
  memory boards.

PACKARD BELL PBVT286B

Compatible with Current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic boards.
This is an 80286-based 6-10Mhz computer. Customer must run SETBOARD and
choose the 10Mhz option. This system is NOT compatible with the
discontinued Above Board AT or PS/AT.

PANASONIC FX-800

*CUSTOMER REPORTS* of compatibility with current Above Boards and Matched
Memory Classic boards in these 80286-based computers. These desktop
computers can operate at 6 or 8MHz.

Customers also report of compatibility with the discontinued Above Board
  286, PS/286, AT, and PS/AT.

PC'S LIMITED AT

This 6 or 12MHz 80286-based computer is compatible with current Above
Boards and Matched Memory Classic boards. Also compatible with the Above
Board 286 and PS/286. Only compatible with the Above Board AT and PS/AT
  at the 6MHz speed.

Tech notes: One customer reported when using an Above Board 286 in a
12mhz system they would get lockups when the hard disk was
accessed or after EMM has just finished installing.
  The SOLUTIONS:
Booting the system at the lower speed (6mhz) then switching the
       system to the higher speed.
Additionally, if the Above Board providing expanded memory is NOT
providing any extended memory then the "NE" parameter may be added
       to the EMM command line.

PC'S LIMITED 286/12MHZ

*CUSTOMER REPORTS* of compatibility with the Above Board ISA, Plus, PLus
8, and the Matched Memory Classic in these 80286-based computers. Make
sure the Intel memory board is set for the 12mhz data bus speed (with
HWSETUP for the Above Board ISA, or SETBOARD with the Above Board Plus,
Plus 8, and the Matched Memory Classic).

Common Symptom in this computer: Testab reports 2 banks bad, probably has
specified a bus speed of 6/8mhz in Setboard; setting to 12MHz should work
  fine.

  Tech Notes:
The Above Board ISA cannot map any memory into the address range E000-EFFF
on the PC's Limited 286/12 because there is BIOS ROM from E800-FFFF that
sets the entire E000- range for 16-bit system board accesses.

PC-DESIGNS TURBO AT

*CUSTOMER REPORTS* of LIMITED compatibility with current Above Boards and
Matched Memory Classic boards in this 80286-based computer. The system
will not do warm boots with EMM installed. All other functions operate
  correctly.

PC DESIGNS MODEL 120

One customer reports that an Above Board 286 worked fine with manual
installation of software in this 80286-based computer. We have no
information at all about compatibility with these computers and current
Above Boards and the Matched Memory Classic boards, although we can't
  foresee any problems.

PHILLIPS P3202

*CUSTOMER REPORTS* of compatibility between these 80286-based computers
and current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic boards. Also have
reports of compatibility with the Above Board 286 and PS/286.

This computer is sent from the factory with the Non-IBM AT standard of 0
wait states. Must insert a wait state by removing jumper W12 on the
mother board. (The power supply has to be removed to get to this jumper).

SAMSUNG 10MHZ

*CUSTOMER REPORTS* of compatibility between current Above Boards and
Matched Memory Classic boards in these 80286-based computers. Probably not
compatible with the discontinued Above Board AT and PS/AT due to the fast
  bus speed.

One customer mentioned that there is no way to provide extended memory
with ANY add-in board if there are empty memory sockets on this
motherboard. This system has sockets for 1Meg on the motherboard.

SAMSUNG S550 12MHZ

*CUSTOMER REPORT* of compatibility with current Above Boards and Matched
Memory Classic boards. Probably not compatible with the discontinued Above
Board AT and PS/AT due to the fast bus speed.

Tech Notes: Customer reports that the Samsung S550 12MHz AT is shipped
with a jumper marked J16 not set to the manufacturers default. The
default is supposed to be J16 installed. This jumper controls the memory
  size of the motherboard (J16 off = 1MB J16 on = 640K). There must be a
jumper on J16 AND 640K on the mother board in order for the AB to supply
  EXTended memory starting at 1.0M!

SPERRY IT

These 80286-based computers are compatible with current Above Boards and
Matched Memory Classic boards. We also have reports of compatibility with
the discontinued Above Board AT, PS/AT, 286, and PS/286.

With the INSTALL program (shipped prior to our LIM 4.0 software was
shipped), the EMM software had to be installed manually. The current
  SOFTSET program should work fine.

One customer reported his Above Board worked in 7.16MHz, 0 wait state
  mode.

Motherboard has sockets for 640Kb conventional memory which should be
filled if the customer wants 640Kb conventional memory. Do not use any
add-in memory board to backfill conventional memory on this system, it was
designed to be filled by the motherboard only.

This system does not display a BIOS memory test at boot so you will not
see extended memory count up on POST.

If system locks up when EMM is loaded, try setting the board for 10MHz,
(Above Board 286, Plus, Plus 8 only and Matched Memory Classic only).

SPERRY MICRO IT

This 80286-based computer is compatible with Current Above Boards, Matched
Memory Classic boards and the discontinued Above Board 286 and PS/286.
This computer has a 10MHz bus speed, make sure Setboard is told it will be
talking to a 10MHz bus. This system has been known to lock up when trying
to run SOFTSET, TESTAB, or when EMM is trying to load if the Above Board
is set to operate at a speed other than 10MHz.
