COMPAQ'S ENHDISK

If you use COMPAQ's ENHDISK.SYS driver for hard drive partitioning, put
the DEVICE=ENHDISK.SYS command as the first line in the CONFIG.SYS file
(ahead of the EMM.SYS and QUIKMEM.SYS commands).

QUIKMEM2 RAMDISK MAXIMUM SIZE

The maximum size of a QUIKMEM RAM disk is 8M bytes, even with EMM 4.0.

QUIKMEM2 RAMDISKS AND DOS 4.0 APPEND

(Field report) A user reports a problem with a QUIKMEM2 RAM disk while
using DOS 4.0's APPEND command with the /X parameter. When he did a DIR
on the RAM disk, he got the directory listing for the hard disk. Removing
the /X parameter solved the problem.

MAXIMUM FILES, RAMDISK CONFIGURATION

The root directory of a disk can hold a maximum of 128 files, but
subdirectories can hold an unlimited number of files. The only limit to
the number of files in a subdirectory is the amount of storage space on
  the drive.

DOS allows up to 32 RAM disks; use manual installation for more than two.
Some computers have hard disk partitions using higher drive letters. RAM
disks will install after these drive letters, even if they're invisible.

MS WORD AND RAM DISKS

MS Word Manual has instructions for using Word with RAM disks.
  Version 2.0 Manual page 355
Version 3.0 Manual page 178 (second manual)

QUIKMEM2 AND ANSI.SYS

Intel has found a problem that occurs when MS-DOS 4.01 ANSI.SYS loads
before QUIKMEM2.SYS. If they were the only drivers loaded, the computer
would lock up during operation. However, if additional drivers were
loaded (such as RAMDRIVE.SYS, HIMEM.SYS or SMARTDRV.SYS) there was no
problem. If ANSI.SYS loaded after QUIKMEM2.SYS, there was no problem. No
problems were found with PC-DOS 4.01.

RAMDISKS & ZENITH SYSTEMS

These computers have switches to assign one to four floppy disk drives. If
the switches are set for 4 floppy drives, then DOS assigns drives A:
through D: to these floppy drives even if fewer drives are actually in the
computer. If you install a RAM disk, DOS will assign it the letter after
the last floppy and hard disk drive letter.
