These instructions are intended for experienced computer users who
want to get E-Z Braille up and running as quickly as possible.
They are not intended to provide explanations beyond the bare
necessities. See the "Installing the Translator" and "Configuring
the Translator" sections of the "E-Z Braille User's Manual" for
full details.

We assume you have an installation diskette from High Expectations
or a dealer. You might also have created an install diskette from
the EZBRAILLE.EXE self-extracting file downloaded from a bulletin
board service. The steps are the same in all cases. We will
assume you use the default values for paths etc. Substitute the
correct disk names and file paths where appropriate in the
following commands.

1. Insert install diskette into drive a. Enter the following
     command.

     a:install

Follow the instructions of the install program - it should
tell you what you need to know and prompt for necessary
     information.

2. Configure the translator. Start the translator by entering
     the following command:

     braille

3. When the "Braille Generation" window appears, select the
"Printer Setup" window by pressing ALT-P.

4. Set each of the items on this window. Refer to your printer's
documentation if you are unsure what settings it requires.
Press F1 for help on the item under your cursor. Press ALT-S
when all items are set. This will save your settings.

5. Print a test file to see if everything looks okay. This file
should be nice and short. This file should surve the purpose.
In the "Document to be Brailled" item, type the name QK-
START.TXT and press ENTER. Press ENTER again to make a hard
braille copy. Press ESCAPE to exit E-Z Braille.

If the braille test did not work, check your braille printer.
Is it on? Is it ONLINE? Is the cable connected to the
printer and a port on your computer. Did you tell the
translator the correct printer port name? If you answer YES
to all of these, check your Braille Printer documentation. If
you are using a serial port, you may need to set communication
parameters using the MsDOS mode command. If you are still
     unsure, give us a call.
