           DESCRIPTION
           INVESTMENT PROTECTION
The IBM PS/2 486/33 Processor Upgrade Option provides ease of
performance upgrade and software compatibility with a wide range of
Personal System/2 operating systems. Upward migration via processor
upgrade is allowed for customers desiring greater
           processor
performance than the 25MHz 80486 microprocessor complex featured in
the IBM Personal System/2 Model 90 486 XP (8590-0J5,-0J9) and the IBM
           Personal System/2 Model 95 486 XP (8595-0J9,-0JD). The IBM PS/2
486/33 Processor Upgrade Option is net priced based on the return of
the 486/25 processor complex to IBM.
By implementing the IBM Personal System/2 8590 and 8595 family
of systems, IBM provides customers with a wide range of function and
hardware designed to meet customer requirements in many different
application environments. The common processor complex design of the
8590 and 8595 PS/2 system family helps protect the customer's
original investment by allowing a significant performance upgrade in
compute-intensive applications as computing demands increase.
           GROWTH ENABLEMENT
The IBM PS/2 486/33 Processor Upgrade Option offers PS/2 Model 90 XP
486 and 95 XP 486 customers a choice of microprocessor performance
           levels.
The 486/25 processor complex featured in the IBM Personal
System/2 Model 90 486 XP (8590-0J5,-0J9) and the IBM Personal
System/2 Model 95 486 XP (8590-0J9,-0JD) systems can be upgraded with
the new IBM PS/2 486/33 Processor Upgrade Option. The 486/25
processor complex and the 486/33 processor complex allow functional
and performance expansion via the IBM Personal System/2 256KB Cache
           Option (#1098, 6451095).
           USER PRODUCTIVITY
