XWhen using the IBM PS/2 Enhanced 80386 Memory Expansion
Option in conjunction with Netware v2.2, two issues may
arise: (#

X1.X`	`	The file server will be unable to boot from the hard
drive if NetWare v2.2 is installed before the IBM
Memory Expansion Option is installed in the system. The
IBM Memory Expansion Option software will overwrite the
NetWare cold boot loader stored at track 0 on a file
server. This issue also occurred in v2.15c and was
resolved by using IBMMEM.ZIP patch on NetWire(NOVA LIB
8). (#`

X2.X`	`	The file server will not recognize the IBM Expansion
Option if the IBM Memory Expansion Option is installed
before NetWare v2.2 is installed in the system. Netware
v2.2 will write over the IBM Memory Expansion Option
software necessary to recognize the adapter. You may
receive "Error Loading User Device" then boot to BASIC.

XoX`	`	NOTE Both the 2 and 4 Megabyte versions of the memory
card can also be identified by the same card sub
assembly part number(located on the back of the card
near the metal bracket). This IBM card sub assembly
part number is as follows: (#`

Xp/n 49F5507 -- on adapters manufactured before July 1, 1990
p/n 87F9819 -- on adapters manufactured on or after July 1,
1990 (#

XSOLUTION:NA (#

XIt is necessary to boot NetWare from diskette when using the
IBM Memory Expansion Option on a file server. This will
solve either potential issue. To use the full functionality
of the memory adapter, you must complete the following
procedures: (#

X1)X`	`	Install the IBM Memory Expansion Option again. Pleaseh)0*0*0*refer to the installation instructions provided with
the adapter. (#`

X2)X`	`	Copy the memory adapter's board driver, DOSMEMDD.SYS,
from your Option diskette to a DOS bootable floppy
diskette. Copy or create a CONFIG.SYS file on this DOS
bootable diskette and include on line 1 the statement
"DEVICE = DOSMEMDD.SYS". Please refer to the
installation instructions provided with the adapter. (#`

X3)X`	`	If you are using the Enhanced 80386 Memory as DOS 4.0
expanded memory, please refer to section 2 of your
installation instructions provided with your adapter.
       (#`

X4)X`	`	Place the file server's operating system on the same
diskette. Please refer to "Using the Network" (Novell
NetWare) manual pages 6 and 7 for full instructions on
booting the file server from floppy diskette. (#`

XNovell is currently working on a patch to enable the cold
boot loader information on track 0 to work with the IBM
Memory Expansion Option in NetWare v2.2. This patch should
be available by June 30 1991 on NetWire NOVA LIB 16 or 8
named IBM22M.ZIP. (#
