                INSTRUCTIONS FOR JULY 1990 DISK OF THE MONTH


NOTE:  The following macros (files with the extension .WPM) must be copied
into the directory where your other macro files are kept.  WARNING!  If you
already have macros with the same name, you must rename the macros found on
this disk before they are copied onto your hard drive or your original macros
will be overwritten.  Some of these files are styles (files with the extension
.STY).  For 5.1, copy the style files into the directory specified in Setup
(Shift-F1), (6) Location of Files, (5) Style Files.  For 5.0, copy the styles
files into your List Files (F5) directory.  All other document files should be
copied to your List Files (F5) directory.

Included on this disk are the following files that work in 5.0 and 5.1 where
specified:

BEN.WPM (5.0/5.1 Macro) - This treatment macro will produce detailed
     instructions, warnings and potential side effects of, for example, the
     drug Benadryl.  The macro will pause while you enter the exact dose and
     type of administration.  To edit the macro for changing the treatment
     instruction, press Macro Define (Ctrl-F10), type ben, press (Enter), (2)
     Edit (then (2) Action in 5.0).  Make the necessary changes and press Exit
     (F7) twice in 5.0, once in 5.1.  To use this macro, press Macro (Alt-
     F10), type ben and press (Enter).  (See "Rx for Medical Records," July
     '90, p25.)

ALTD.WPM (5.0/5.1 Macro) - This macro retrieves a previously created personal-
     journal file.  When retrieved, the journal will be ready for a current
     entry.  To create the file, type your first entry (you may want to
     include the date), press Save (F10) and type diary (or your choice).  To
     edit this macro, press Macro Define (Ctrl-F10), (Alt-D) and (2) Edit
     (then (2) Action in 5.0).  Make the necessary changes and press Exit (F7)
     once in 5.1, twice in 5.0.  To use this macro, press (Alt-D).  (See "Tips
     of the Trade," July '90, p65.)

ALTT.WPM (5.0/5.1 Macro) - This macro transposes two characters.  To use this
     macro, place your cursor on the first character to be transposed and
     press (Alt-T).  (See "Tips of the Trade," July '90, p65.)

ALTC.WPM (5.0/5.1 Macro) - This macro converts Document Comments to text then
     prints the document.  For use in 5.1, edit the macro by pressing (Home),
     Macro Define (Ctrl-F10) then (Alt-C).  Press (Enter) at the Description
     prompt.  Move your cursor to {Search}{Text In/Out}{Search} in line four
     and change it to {Search}{Text In/Out}1{Search}.  Also, change {Text
     In/Out}53 in line five to {Text In/Out}43.  Press Exit (F7) to save the
     macro.  To use this macro, place the cursor at the beginning of your
     document and press (Alt-C).  (See "Tips of the Trade," July '90, p65.)

MEDICAL1.TBL (5.1 Table) - This 5.1 table is a medical-history form for
     updating medical information.  To use or edit this form, press Retrieve
     (Shift-F10), type medical1.tbl (include the pathname if needed) and press
     (Enter).  (See "Tables a la Merge," July '90, p19.)

MEDICAL2.TBL (5.1 Table) - This 5.1 table is a keyboard merge version of
     MEDICAL1.TBL.  To use this table, press Merge/Sort (Ctrl-F9), (1) Merge,
     type medical2.tbl (include the pathname if needed) and press (Enter). 
     Press (Enter) at the Secondary File: prompt.  You'll be prompted for the
     needed information.  Press End Field (F9) to move to the next prompt. 
     When the information is filled in, press End Field (F9) to end the merge. 
     To end a merge before it's finished, press Merge Codes (Shift-F9), (1)
     Quit.  To edit this form, press Retrieve (Shift-F10), type medical2.tbl
     (include the pathname if needed) and press (Enter). (See "Tables a la
     Merge," July '90, p19.)

FANCYBDR.1 (5.1 Document) - This file contains a graphic box with a dotted
     border. This new Border Option (Format (Shift-F8), (4) Other, (8) Border
     Options) was added to the 1/19/90 release of 5.1.  To retrieve this file,
     press Retrieve (Shift-F10), type fancybdr.1 and press (Enter).  To edit
     the box, press Graphics (Alt-F9), (3) Text Box, (2) Edit.  At the prompt
     Text box number?, type 1 and press (Enter).  To type text in the box,
     press (9) Edit.  When finished, press Exit (F7).  To size the box, press
     (7) Size, (3) Both and enter the desired width and height.  To view this
     file, press Print (Shift-F7) and (6) View Document.  (See "It's

FANCYBDR.2 (5.1 Document) - This file contains a graphic box with a dashed
     border.  This new Border Option (Format (Shift-F8), (4) Other, (8) Border
     Options) was added to the 1/19/90 release of 5.1.  To retrieve this file,
     press Retrieve (Shift-F10), type fancybdr.2 and press (Enter).  To edit
     the box, press Graphics (Alt-F9), (3) Text Box, (2) Edit.  At the prompt
     Text box number?, type 1 and press (Enter).  To type text in the box,
     press (9) Edit.  When finished, press Exit (F7).  To size the box, press
     (7) Size, (3) Both and enter the desired width and height.  To view this
     file, press Print (Shift-F7) and (6) View Document.  (See "It's

FANCYBDR.3 (5.1 Document) - This file contains a graphic box with double
     border.  This new Border Options feature (Format (Shift-F8), (4) Other,
     (8) Border Options) was added to the 1/19/90 release of 5.1.  To retrieve
     this file, press Retrieve (Shift-F10), type fancybdr.3 and press (Enter). 
     To edit the box, press Graphics (Alt-F9), (3) Text Box, (2) Edit).  At
     the prompt Text box number?, type 1 and press (Enter).  To type text in
     the box, press (9) Edit.  When finished, press Exit (F7). To size the
     box, press (7) Size, (3) Both and enter the desired width and height.  To
     view this file, press Print (Shift-F7) and (6) View Document.  (See "It's

HEADING1.STY (5.0/5.1 Style) - This style creates a resume heading. The
     address and phone number are placed between two horizontal lines under
     the centered name.  It can be used with either RESUME1.STY or
     RESUME2.STY, which contains the body of the resume.  To use this style,
     at a blank screen press Style (Alt-F8), press (7) Retrieve, type
     heading1.sty and press (Enter).  Highlight Heading and press (1) On.  To
     edit this style, press Style (Alt-F8), highlight Heading and press (4)
     Edit and (4) Codes.  Make the desired changes and press Exit (F7) until
     you're at the Style menu.  To save the changes, press (6) Save, type
     heading1.sty, press (Enter) and (Y) to replace. (See "You're Hired," July
     '90 p55.)

HEADING2.STY (5.0/5.1 Style) - This style creates a resume heading with a
     centered name, address, phone number and a single-line border around the
     page.  It can be used with either RESUME1.STY or RESUME2.STY, which
     contains the body of the resume.  To use this style, at a blank screen
     press Style (Alt-F8), press (7) Retrieve, type heading2.sty and press
     (Enter).  Highlight Heading and press (1) On.  To edit this style, press
     Style (Alt-F8), highlight Heading and press (4) Edit and (4) Codes.  Make
     the desired changes and press Exit (F7) until you're at the Style menu. 
     To save the changes, press (6) Save, type heading1.sty, press (Enter) and
     (Y) to replace.  (See "You're Hired," July '90 p55.)

RESUME1.STY (5.0/5.1 Style) - This style creates the body of a resume
     (education, experience, achievements, etc.).  It can be used with either
     HEADING1.STY or HEADING2.STY, which contains the heading of the resume. 
     To use this style, at a blank screen press Style (Alt-F8), press (7)
     Retrieve, type resume1.sty and press (Enter).  Highlight Resume and press
     (1) On.  Font adjustment may be necessary.  To edit this style, press
     Style (Alt-F8), highlight Resume, press (4) Edit and (4) Codes.  Make the
     desired changes (e.g., Font (Ctrl-F8), (4) Base Font, highlight the
     desired font and press (1) Select).  After making the desired changes,
     press Exit (F7) until you're at the Style menu.  To save the changes,
     press (6) Save, type heading1.sty, press (Enter) and (Y) to replace.

RESUME2.STY (5.0/5.1 Style) - This style creates the body of a resume
     (education, experience, achievements, etc.).  It can be used with either
     HEADING1.STY or HEADING2.STY, which contains the heading of the resume. 
     To use this style, at a blank screen press Style (Alt-F8), press (7)
     Retrieve, type resume2.sty and press (Enter).  Highlight Resume and press
     (1) On.  Font adjustment may be necessary.  To edit this style, press
     Style (Alt-F8), highlight Resume, press (4) Edit and (4) Codes.  Make the
     desired changes (e.g., Font (Ctrl-F8), (4) Base Font, highlight the
     desired font and press (1) Select).  After making the desired changes,
     press Exit (F7) until you're at the Style menu.  To save the changes,
     press (6) Save, type heading1.sty, press (Enter) and (Y) to replace.

TRCOST.WPM (5.1 Macro) - This macro calculates medical- transcription costs. 
     It will count the number of characters in a document, divide it by the
     standard characters per line (usually 50) and multiply the number of
     lines by the transcriber's charge.  To edit this macro, press (Home),
     Macro Define, type trcost and press (Enter) twice.  Make the desired
     changes and press Exit (F7).  To use this macro, press Macro (Alt-F10),
     type trcost and press (Enter).  (See "Prescription for Transcription,"
     July '90, p15.)

The following file is to be used in DataPerfect.

CONTACT.STR (Structure file) - This file will allow you to print information
     stored in the contact database.  Copy CONTACT.STR into your default
     database directory. (If you already have a copy of the Contact Database
     from a previous month, copy this file to a different directory or rename
     it.)  Run DataPerfect and select the CONTACT database.  First, the
     program will tell you that it can't find the Text (*.TXX) file.  Press
     (1) to re-create it.  Repeat this process for the Index (*.IND) file.
     CONTACT.STR is now ready to use.  (See "Doing Business With DataPerfect
     Part III," July '90, p45.)
