                INSTRUCTIONS FOR APRIL 1990 DISK-OF-THE-MONTH

NOTE: All of the following macros must be copied into the directory where
your other macro files are kept. WARNING! If you already have macros with
the same name, you must rename the macros found on this disk before they are
copied onto your hard drive or your original macros will be overwritten. Some
of these files are Style files. For 5.1, copy the style files into the
directory specified in Setup (Shift-F1), (6) Location of Files, (5) Style
Files. For 5.0, copy the styles files into your List Files (F5) directory.

Included on this disk are the following files which will work in 5.0 and 5.1
where specified:

DROPCAP.STY (5.0/5.1) - This is style library contains two styles, Question
and Answer, which create a large drop cap Q and a large drop cap A. To
retrieve this style library, press Style (Alt-F8), (7) Retrieve, type
dropcap.sty (include full pathname if necessary) and press (Enter). This
will retrieve both the Question and Answer styles. Highlight the desired
style, press (1) On, then press (Right Arrow) once before typing. (See
     "DataClone," April '90, page 42.)

REPLACE.WPM (5.0 macro) - This macro repetitively retrieves a file from one
subdirectory, deletes the unwanted codes, saves the revised file into
another subdirectory, then deletes the file from the original
subdirectory. By defining the repeat key (Esc) equal to the number of
files to be revised, the macro will repeat itself until all the files
have been revised, saved and the original one deleted. First, create two
subdirectories (C:\wp50\DO and C:\WP50\DONE). The DO subdirectory must
be the default (F5) directory. The DONE directory must be empty when you
invoke the macro. This macro is set up to retrieve files from
C:\WP50\DO, delete the superscript and subscript codes, then save the
revised document C:\WP50\DONE. To edit this macro, press Macro Define
(Ctrl-F10), type replace, press (Enter), (2) Edit, (2) Action. Make the
necessary changes and press Exit (F7) when done. To invoke this macro,
press Macro (Alt-F10), type replace and press (Enter). (See "DataClone,"
     April '90, page 42.)

Merge/Sort (Ctrl-F9), (1) Merge, type hobby.pf at the primary file prompt
and press (Enter), type hobby.sf at the secondary file prompt and press
(Enter). (See "The Merge Splurge", April '90, page 19.)

Merge/Sort (Ctrl-F9), (1) Merge, type hobby.pf at the primary file prompt
and press (Enter), type hobby.sf at the secondary file prompt and press
(Enter). (See "The Merge Splurge", April '90, page 19.)

ODD.WPM (5.0 Macro) - This macro allows printing on both sides of a sheet of
paper (referred to as duplexing). First, you will be prompted to insert
the paper stack for odd pages. After printing the odd stack, you will be
prompted to insert the even stack. (You will need to turn the odd stack
over.) Trial and error may be required in positioning the papers
correctly. If you have marked any text in your document for a table of
contents, list, table of authorities, etc., the macro will ask if the
document needs to be generated first. If so, the macro will stop
execution to allow generation. To use this macro press Macro (Alt-F10),
type odd, press (Enter) and follow the prompts. (See "Double Your
Printing, Double Your Fun", April '90, page 15.)

the paper stack for odd pages.
To use this macro press Macro (Alt-F10),
type odd51, press (Enter) and follow the prompts. (See "Double Your
Printing, Double Your Fun", April '90, page 15.)

The following files are for use in PlanPerfect 5.0:

AMORT.MON (PlanPerfect 5.0 worksheet) - This worksheet is a monthly
amortization schedule for loans requiring monthly payments. Variable
information is entered at the top of the worksheet under the heading
"Data;" the remainder of the worksheet is locked to prevent accidental
changes. Loans up to 30 years in length are calculated, although only
the first 8 years are included in this worksheet due to space
limitations. To expand the worksheet to cover more years, simply Copy
(F4) the last row down as many times as desired, then Recalculate (F9).
(See "Sophisticated Schedules", April '90, page 36.)

AMORT.ANN (PlanPerfect 5.0 worksheet) - This worksheet is a summary version of
Amort.ann. Rather than calculate and display monthly results, December
31 annual results are presented. (See "Sophisticated Schedules", April
     '90, page 36.)

INDIV.TAX (PlanPerfect 5.0 worksheet) - This worksheet is an individual quick
tax calculator for 1989 tax returns. Enter variables at the top of the
worksheet, and press Recalculate (F9) to calculate taxable income and
tax. This worksheet accurately computes taxes for taxable incomes of
$50,000 and above, based on Tax Tables X, Y and Z. The Schedules should
be used when actually preparing returns for this income level. (See
"Sophisticated Schedules", April '90, page 36.)

MACRS.DEP (PlanPerfect 5.0 worksheet) - This worksheet is a schedule for
tracking fixed assets and calculating MACRS (post-1986) tax depreciation.
No provision is made for optional methods, nor for luxury vehicle or
other limitations. The mid-year convention is used for personal
property, and mid-month for real property. Depreciation tables are
located below and to the right of the asset schedule. Thus, when adding
assets or years to the asset schedule, do so by inserting rows or columns
below or to the right of the current schedule. When beginning a new
year, worksheet overhead and calculation times may be reduced by
resetting formulas to values on the old year's depreciation column AFTER
copying the formulas to the new year column. All formulas are set to
correctly update when being copied, provided that you have entered the
new year at the top of the new column. (See "Sophisticated Schedules",
     April '90, page 36.)

TICKLER.TAX (PlanPerfect 5.0 worksheet) - This worksheet is a simple tickler
reminder worksheet for keeping track of tax return due dates and
processing status. Sort the rows of data using the "Actual Due Date"
column as the Key field in order to monitor due dates. (See
"Sophisticated Schedules", April '90, page 36.)
