              INSTRUCTIONS FOR FEBRUARY 1991 DISK OF THE MONTH


This disk contains applications found in the February 1991 issue of
WordPerfect, the Magazine.  The name of the article from which each
application is derived is mentioned the end of the application instructions.

NOTE:  The following macros (files with the extension .WPM) must be copied
into the directory where your other macro files are kept.  WARNING!  If you
already have macros with the same name, you must rename the macros found on
this disk before they are copied onto your hard drive or your original
macros will be overwritten.  Some of these files are styles (files with the
extension .STY).  For 5.1, copy the style files into the directory specified
in Setup (Shift-F1), (6) Location of Files, (5) Style Files.  For 5.0, copy
the styles files into your List Files (F5) directory.  All other document
files should be copied to your List Files (F5) directory.

Included on this disk are the following files that work for 5.0 and  5.1
where specified:

BOXP.WPM (5.1 macro) - This macro automatically puts a box around an
     existing paragraph.  This is done by using a one-cell table. When you
     edit the text in the table, the height of the cell automatically
     increases or decreases to accommodate new or deleted text. To use this
     macro, move the cursor anywhere within the paragraph that you want
     boxed. Next, press Macro (Alt-F10), type boxp and press (Enter). The
     paragraph becomes boxed. If you want to edit the box, move the cursor
     into the box (single-cell table), press Columns/Table (Alt-F7) and use
     one or more of the Table commands to change the width, position, line
     style, shading, text alignment or any other feature of the box.  (See
     "All Boxed In," February '91 p19.)

ALTL.WPM (5.1/5.0 macro) - This macro automates locking and saving a
     document. The Enter Password: prompt displays and pauses twice while
     you enter the password. The macro then displays the prompt Document to
     be saved: and pauses while you enter a name for the document. The
     document then remains on the screen. To invoke the macro, press (Alt-
     L).  (See "For Your Eyes Only," February '91 p44.) 

WORD.WPM (5.1/5.0 macro) - This macro blocks a word, then bolds and
     italicizes it. To invoke the macro, place the cursor on the first
     letter of the appropriate word, press Macro (Alt-F10), type word and
     press (Enter). If you wish to change bold and italics to other
     attributes, edit the macro by pressing Macro Define (Ctrl-F10), typing
     word and pressing (Enter). In 5.1, press (2) Edit. In 5.0, press (2)
     Edit, (2) Action. After making the desired changes, press Exit (F7)
     once in 5.1 or twice in 5.0. (See "Tackling the Block," February '91
     p125.)

TEXT.WPM (5.1/5.0 macro) - This macro turns block on, searches for a hard
     return [HRt], blocks that section of text, then bolds and italicizes
     it. If you wish to change bold and italics to other attributes, edit
     the macro by pressing Macro Define (Ctrl-F10), typing text and pressing
     (Enter). In 5.1, press (2) Edit. In 5.0, press (2) Edit, (2) Action.
     After making the desired changes, press Exit (F7) once in 5.1 or twice
     in 5.0. To invoke the macro, place the cursor on the first letter of
     the text, press Macro (Alt-F10), type text and press (Enter).  (See
     "Tackling the Block," February '91 p125.)

BIGLET.WPM (5.1 macro) - This macro creates a big initial cap using the
     Equation Editor. Before you use this macro, make sure that you set the
     defaults that are discussed in this article. To do so, press Format
     (Shift-F8), (3) Document, (2) Initial Codes. Then press Graphics
     (Alt-F9), (6) Equation, (4) Options, (1) Border Style, then press (1)
     None for all borders. Press (3) Inside Border Space and enter 0" for
     left, right, top and bottom. Press Exit (F7) to return to the Initial
     Codes screen. Press Format (Shift-F8), (1) Line, (4) Line Height, (2)
     Fixed, (Enter) to accept the default line height and Exit (F7) three
     times to return to your document screen. If you plan to do this often,
     you might want to put these codes into a style. Then, to use this
     macro, press Macro (Alt-F10), type biglet and press (Enter). (See "The
     Big and Tall of Dot Matrix," February '91 p115.)

LRGLET.WPM (5.1 macro) - This macro creates a big initial cap using the
     Equation Editor. Before you use this macro, make sure that you set the
     defaults that are discussed in this article. To do so, press Format
     (Shift-F8), (3) Document, (2) Initial Codes. Then press Graphics
     (Alt-F9), (6) Equation, (4) Options, (1) Border Style, then press (1)
     None for all borders. Press (3) Inside Border Space and enter 0" for
     left, right, top and bottom. Press Exit (F7) to return to the Initial
     Codes screen. Press Format (Shift-F8), (1) Line, (4) Line Height, (2)
     Fixed, (Enter) to accept the default line height and Exit (F7) three
     times to return to your document screen. If you plan to do this often,
     you might want to put these codes into a style. Then, to use this
     macro, press Macro (Alt-F10), type lrglet and press (Enter). (See "The

ALTE.WPM (5.1 macro) - This macro copies an address from a letter to your
     Document 2 screen. It then formats the address for an envelope. It also
     formats it for the swiftest delivery by the post office. It does this
     by deleting all punctuation and changing all the text to uppercase. It
     then prints the envelope, deletes the copy and returns you to your
     letter. To use this macro, place the cursor on the first letter of the
     address and press (Alt-E). Note: The address must have two hard returns
     after it. Also, you must have a paper size called Envelope - Wide. (See
     "TIPS," February '91 p129.)

BOX50.WPM (5.0 macro) - This macro creates a small figure box that can be
     used for a checkbox. To use, place the cursor in the desired position
     and press Macro (Alt-F10), type box50 and press (Enter). To view the
     box, press Print (Shift-F7), (6) View Document. Press Exit (F7) when
     finished.  (See "TIPS,"  February '91 p129.)

BOX-X50.WPM (5.0 macro) - This macro creates a small figure box containing
     an "X" that can be used for a checkbox. To use, place the cursor in the
     desired position and press Macro (Alt-F10), type box-x50 and press
     (Enter). To view the box, press Print (Shift-F7), (6) View Document.
     Press Exit (F7) when finished.  (See "TIPS,"  February '91 p129.)

BOX51.WPM (5.1 macro) - This macro creates a small figure box that can be
     used for a checkbox. To use, place the cursor in the desired position
     and press Macro (Alt-F10), type box51 and press (Enter). To view the
     box, press Print (Shift-F7), (6) View Document. Press Exit (F7) when
     finished.  (See "TIPS,"  February '91 p129.)

BOX-X51.WPM (5.1 macro) - This macro creates a small figure box containing
     an "X" that can be used for a checkbox. To use, place the cursor in the
     desired position and press Macro (Alt-F10), type box-x51 and press
     (Enter). To view the box, press Print (Shift-F7), (6) View Document.
     Press Exit (F7) when finished. (See "TIPS,"  February '91 p129.)

ALTH.WPM (5.1 macro) - This macro creates a header for your correspondence.
     It first inserts the current date and page number, and then pauses for
     you to type the recipient's name. To use, press (Alt-H). When the macro
     pauses, type the recipient's name and press (Enter). The header will
     appear in your document starting on page two. (See "TIPS," February '91
     p129.)

COLUMN.WPM (5.1 macro) - This macro turns side by side column display on or
     off. To use, press Macro (Alt-F10), type column and press (Enter). At
     the prompt Do you want Column Display on? answer (Y) or (N). (See "Side
     by Side," February '91 p80.)

MEMBERS.SEC (5.1 secondary file) - This is a sample secondary file with {END
     FIELD} and {END RECORD} codes. Each record is separated by a hard page
     break. To edit this file, press Retrieve (Shift-F10), type members.sec
     and press (Enter). Make desired changes and Save (F10) and replace the
     file. (See "Controlling Your Basic Merge," February '91 p39.)

DUES.PRI (5.1 primary file) - This is a sample primary file with {FIELD)
     codes. The corresponding fields in MEMBERS.SEC are merged where the
     [FIELD] codes indicate. To edit this file, press Retrieve (Shift-F10),
     type dues.pri and press (Enter). Make desired changes and Save (F10)
     and replace the file. (See "Controlling Your Basic Merge," February '91
     p39.)

MERGE.LTR (5.1 merge letter) - This is a sample of the two files above after
     merging. To create this letter, press Merge/Sort (Ctrl-F9), (1) Merge.
     At the Primary File: prompt, type dues.pri and press (Enter). At the
     Secondary File prompt, type members.sec and press Enter. (See
     "Controlling Your Basic Merge,"  February '91 p39.)

MEMBERS2.SEC (5.0 secondary file) - This is a sample secondary file with
     Merge R (^R) and Merge E (^E) codes. Each record is separated by a hard
     page break. To edit this file, press Retrieve (Shift-F10), type
     members2.sec and press (Enter). Make desired changes and Save (F10) and
     replace the file. (See "Controlling Your Basic Merge,"  February '91
     p39.)

DUES2.PRI (5.0 primary file) - This is a sample primary file with ^Fn^
     codes, where n equals the Field number. The corresponding fields in
     MEMBERS2.SEC are merged where the ^Fn^ codes indicate. To edit this
     file, press Retrieve (Shift-F10), type dues2.pri and press (Enter).
     Make desired changes and Save (F10) and replace the file. (See
     "Controlling Your Basic Merge,"  February '91 p39.)

MERGE2.LTR (5.0 merge letter) - This is a sample of the two files above
     after merging. To create this letter, press Merge/Sort (Ctrl-F9), (1)
     Merge. At the Primary File: prompt, type dues2.pri and press (Enter).
     At the Secondary File prompt, type members2.sec and press Enter. (See
     "Controlling Your Basic Merge,"  February '91 p39.)

STATMNT.STY (5.1 style) - This style formats a monthly statement. The style
     inserts a border, a graphic, your name, address and the current date.
     It also sets tabs and turns on math so you can compute the amount owed.
     To use this style, at a clear screen press Style (Alt-F8), (7)
     Retrieve, type statmnt.sty and (Enter). Highlight Statement and press
     (1) On/Select. Now type the name and address of the client or customer,
     pressing (Enter) between the information. When finished, press (Enter)
     twice and type the entries. Of course, entries will vary depending on
     the statement. For this example, press (Tab), type Consultation, press
     (Tab), type in a dollar amount and press (Enter) twice. Remember to use
     (Tab), not the (Space Bar), to move the cursor. Now, press (Tab), type
     Parts, press (Tab), type in an amount and press (Enter) twice. Press
     (Tab), type Labor, press (Tab), Underline (F8), type an amount, press
     (F8) again to turn off underline. Press (Enter) twice, press (Tab),
     type TOTAL, press (Tab) and type +. The plus sign is the math operator
     for adding a column of numbers. Now, total the numbers by pressing
     Columns/Table (Alt-F7), (3) Math (4) Calculate. The total appears to
     the left of the plus sign. Note: The plus sign won't print. To include
     your own graphic, press Style (Alt-F8), highlight Statement, press (4)
     Edit and (4) Codes. Press Graphics (Alt-F9), (4) User Box, (2) Edit,
     type 1 and press (Enter). Press (1) Filename and enter the name of the
     desired graphic. Make any other necessary changes and press Exit (F7)
     three times to return to the Styles screen. Press (6) Save to save and
     replace the style. To view the statement, press Print (Shift-F7) and
     (6) View Document. Press Exit (F7) when finished. (See "Past Due,"

STATMT50.STY (5.0 style) - This style formats a monthly statement. The style

     Now, press (Tab), type Parts, press (Tab), type in an amount and press
     (Enter) twice. Press (Tab), type Labor, press (Tab), Underline (F8),
     type an amount, press (F8) again to turn off underline. Press (Enter)
     twice, press (Tab), type TOTAL, press (Tab) and type +. Now, total the
     numbers by pressing Math/Columns (Alt-F7), (2) Calculate. The total
     appears left of the plus sign. Note: The plus sign won't print. To
     include your own graphic, press Style (Alt-F8), highlight Statement,
     press (4) Edit and (4) Codes. Press Graphics (Alt-F9), (4) User Box,
     (2) Edit, type 1 and press (Enter). Press (1) Filename and enter the
     name of the desired graphic. Make any other necessary changes and press
     Exit (F7) three times to return to the Styles screen. Press (6) Save to
     save and replace the style. To view the statement, press Print (Shift-
     F7) and (6) View Document. Press Exit (F7) when finished. (See "Past

OVERHEAD.TMP - (5.1) This application is a template containing three styles
     (Headline, Bullet and Finger) used to create an overhead. Caution: When
     retrieving any template, save it with a different name so you don't
     overwrite the original. Load the template by pressing Retrieve (Shift-
     F10), typing Overhead.tmp and pressing (Enter). Press Save (F10), type
     a name, such as Over-1.hed, and press (Enter).
     Next, press Style (Alt-F8), highlight Headline style and press (1) On.
     You can type any text you want. For example, type the headline, What do
     you care about? and press (Right Arrow) to move outside of the headline
     style. Then press (Enter) three times to leave extra room after the
     headline.
     Insert the bullet style by pressing Style (Alt-F8), highlighting Bullet
     and pressing (1) On. Press Font (Ctrl-F8), (2) Appearance, (4) Italic
     and type Convenience:. Press (Right Arrow), (Space Bar) twice, type
     "I'm busy" and press (Enter) twice. Press Style (Alt-F8), highlight
     Bullet and press (1) On. Press Font (Ctrl-F8), (2) Appearance, (4)
     Italic, then type Profit:. Press (Right Arrow), (Space Bar) twice, type
     "I only care about money" and press (Enter) twice. For the final point,
     press Style (Alt-F8), highlight Finger, and press (1) On. Press Font
     (Ctrl-F8), (2) Appearance, (4) Italic. Type The Environment:, press
     (Right Arrow), (Space Bar) twice and type "Who cares about convenience
     and money if we can't breathe?" Press (Right Arrow) to move outside the
     finger style.
     To view your handiwork, press Print (Shift-F7), (6) View Document.
     Press Exit (F7) when finished. To create more than one overhead per
     file, press Hard Page (Ctrl-Enter) to start a new page. (See "Dazzling

IMPMESS.WP (5.1 table) - This file is an "Important Message" business form. 
     Retrieve it to your screen by pressing Retrieve (Shift-F10), typing
     impmess.wp and pressing (Enter). Then Print (Shift-F7), (1) Full
     Document and make photocopies as needed. (See "While You Were Out,"
     February '91 p27.)

TODO.WP (5.1 table) - This file is a "To Do List" business form.  Retrieve
     it to your screen by pressing Retrieve (Shift-F10), typing todo.wp and
     pressing (Enter). Then Print (Shift-F7), (1) Full Document and make
     photocopies as needed.  (See "While You Were Out," February '91 p27.)

FRET.DRM (DrawPerfect macro) - This file should be copied to your
     DrawPerfect macro directory. It sets the font to WP COURIER SIMPLEX at
     65 point. When you need to type the fret numbers for your chord charts,
     press Macro (Alt-F10), type fret and press enter. The font and the text
     line tool will be selected. (See "Musical Macros," February '91 p87.)

LETTER.DRM (DrawPerfect macro) - This file should be copied to the
     DrawPerfect macro directory. It operates the same way as FRET.DRM. It
     sets the font to 90 point for the cord letter description. (See
     "Musical Macros," February '91 p87.)

TEMPLT1.WPG (WordPerfect graphic) - Copy this file to your default drawings
     directory. Retrieve it as a file (not a figure) and modify it to create
     your chord charts. (See "Musical Macros," February '91 p87.)

TEMPLT2.WPG (WordPerfect graphic) - Use this file to create charts for
     chords beginning at the bridge. Retrieve it the same way as TEMPLT1.

COMPOSE.BAT (DOS batch file)- Copy this file to your root directory, such as
     C:\. In its current form, it assumes that Rhymer and WP51 are installed
     on the C: drive in RHYME and WP51 directories, respectively. It will
     load RHYMER into memory, then run WordPerfect. (See "Musical Macros,"
     February '91 p87.)

ALTI.WPM (5.1 macro) - This macro creates a graphic box and places it above
     the word that the cursor is on. To import a chord chart, position the
     cursor and press (Alt-I). Type the name of the file containing the
     chart you wish to import and press (Enter). To view the chart, press
     Print (Shift-F7), (6) View Document. Press Exit (F7) when done. (See
     "Musical Macros," February '91 p87)

PRINT.WPM (5.1 Macro) - This macro prints the current document, waits for
     the ending of the print job, then exits WordPerfect.  Note: This will
     only work if there's not a document in Screen 2.  With the desired 
     document on your screen, invoke PRINT.WPM by pressing Macro (Alt-F10),
     typing print and pressing (Enter).  (See "Q&A," February '91, p. 15.)

SHOW.DRP (DrawPerfect Slide Show) This is a menu driven slide show created
     for DrawPerfect. Create a directory called C:\DEMO and copy this file
     and the following .WPG files to it. Press Setup (Shift-F1), (6)
     Location of Files, (4) Figure Library Files, type c:\demo and press
     (ENTER). In addition to the .WPG files on this disk, copy the following
     files from the DrawPerfect figure library to C:\DEMO:

     To view the slide show, from a clear screen in DrawPerfect, press
     Retrieve (Shift-F10), type c:\demo\show.Drp and press (Enter). Remember
     to reset your default graphics directory after you are done viewing the
