INSTRUCTIONS FOR JANUARY 1991 DISK OF THE MONTH

NOTE: The following macros (files with the extension .WPM) must be copied
into the directory where your other macro files are kept. WARNING! If you
already have macros with the same name, you must rename the macros found on
this disk before they are copied onto your hard drive or your original macros
will be overwritten. Some of these files are styles (files with the extension
.STY). For 5.1, copy the style files into the directory specified in Setup
(Shift-F1), (6) Location of Files, (5) Style Files. For 5.0, copy the styles
files into your List Files (F5) directory. All other document files should be
copied to your List Files (F5) directory.

Included on this disk are the following files that work for 5.0 and 5.1 where
specified:

PLANNER.WP (5.1 table) - This table is a daily planner to be used with
ACTION.WP, explained below. Use the daily planner for recording daily
appointments and commitments. The action planner is for keeping track of
assignments. To use this planner, press Retrieve (Shift-F10) and enter
planner.wp. Make any desired changes, then press Print (Shift-F7), (1)
Full Document or (2) Page. When photo copies are made, you may wish to
shrink the page to fit your binder. (See "Arrive on Time," January '91
     p34.)

ACTION.WP (5.1 table) - This table is an action planner to be used with
PLANNER.WP explained above. The action planner is for keeping track of
assignments. This is done with a code made up of the page number plus
the alphabetical line. For example, 3F would be the assignment on the F-
line of page 3. You could write 3F in your daily planner next to the
time and date the assignment was given, as well as next to the time and
date when it will be due. To use this planner, press Retrieve (Shift-
F10) and enter action.wp. Make any desired changes, then press Print
(Shift-F7), (1) Full Document or (2) Page. When photo copies are made,
you may wish to shrink the page to fit your binder. (See "Arrive on
     Time," January '91 p34.)

FONT.WPM (5.1 macro) - This macro uses the {SYSTEM}entry~ macro command,
available starting with the 6/29/90 release of 5.1, to search for a
specific font code and replace it with another. This macro isn't able to
search and replace specific scaleable fonts, such as those found on the
HP LaserJet III, IIIP or postscript printers. The {SYSTEM}entry~ command
can only "see" the font as it's listed in the base font list. To use,
press Macro (Alt-F10), type font and press (Enter). It'll first prompt
you to highlight the font you want to replace. Do so and press (Enter).
Then you'll be prompted to highlight the replacement font. Press (Enter)
when finished. (See "In Search of Fonts," January '91 p19.)

CALENDAR.WPM (5.1 macro) - This macro creates a calendar using 5.1 tables. To
create a calendar, press Macro (Alt-F10), type calendar and press
(Enter). A menu with each month listed will display. Enter the number
of the month you desire, then enter the year. The macro will create and
format a table as a calendar. To view the calendar, press Print (Shift-
F7), (6) View Document. Press Exit (F7) when done. (See "Yesterday,
Today and Tomorrow," January '91 p71.)

ALTS.WPM (5.1 macro) - This macro blocks and saves a subdocument in a master
document to the current directory. First, you must expand your master
document. Then with your cursor anywhere in the desired subdocument,
press (Alt-S). At the Block name: prompt enter the name of your
subdocument. (See "Mastering Your Document," January '91 p61.)

ALTG.WPM (5.1 macro) - Note: If you have a 5.1 release dated 6/29/90 or later,
use VER2.WPM explained below. This macro, along with G-LIST.STY and
COLUMN.SHM, creates a printout library of your graphics, along with their
filenames. Before you use this macro, make sure that only graphic files
are in your specified directory. Also, copy G-LIST.STY into your style

library macro. Note: This file must be copied to your style directory.
(See "Seeing is Believing," January '91 p79.)

COLUMN.SHM (5.1 shell macro) - This Shell macro is used with ALTG.WPM,
explained above. It incorporates each graphic filename into the caption
of the graphic boxes. Note: If you have a 5.1 release dated 6/29/90 or
later, you won't need this macro. (See "Seeing is Believing," January
     '91 p79.)

VER2.WPM (5.1 macro) - This macro requires a WordPerfect 5.1 release dated
6/29/90 or later. It is a shortened version of ALTG.WPM (see above).
Before you use this macro, make sure that only graphic files are in your
specified directory. Also, copy G-LIST.STY to your style directory. In
the macro, if necessary, replace the "C:\WP51\GRAPHICS" on line 3 with
your own macro directory. To use, at a clear screen press Macro (Alt-
F10), type ver2 and press (Enter). (See "Seeing is Believing," January
     '91 p79.)

FORM.WP (5.1 table) - This table is a vacation and attendance record that
tracks employee sick and vacation days. To use, retrieve FORM.WP to your
screen. You may have to rewrite your screen by pressing Screen (Ctrl-
F3), (3) Rewrite. Next, type the appropriate name, vacation eligibility
days and sick eligibility days on the first line. Also, in each suitable
month, type the appropriate number of vacation and sick days for that
particular employee. Then calculate by placing your cursor in the table
and pressing Columns/Table (Alt-F7), (5) Math, (1) Calculate. Note: Each
time you make changes to the numbers in the table you must recalculate.
Also, fonts may need to be modified to prevent the text from wrapping.
     (See "New Year's Resolution," January '91 p29.)

ALTC.WPM (5.1/5.0 macro) - This macro copies blocked text. To use, block the
desired text, then press (Alt-C). If you wish to copy only one complete
sentence, you need not block the text before invoking the macro. Simply
place your cursor anywhere in the sentence and press (Alt-C). ALTV.WPM

SMQUOTE.WPK (5.1 keyboard) - SMQUOTE.WPK is a soft keyboard that contains a
smart quotes 5.1 macro that is mapped to your double-quote key. It is
"smart" because it places open and closed quotes in the proper places.
It also gives an "OPEN" or "CLOSE" prompt that tells you which kind of
quote is being inserted, in case your screen doesn't have the capability
of showing smart quotes. To use, press Setup (Shift-F1), (5) Keyboard
Layout, highlight SMQUOTE, press (1) Select and Exit (F7). With this
keyboard selected, each time you press your double-quote key, either a
"smart" open or close quote is inserted.
You can turn off this keyboard macro by pressing (Ctrl-6). This returns
you to your original keyboard, and your double-quote key will resume its
normal function until you turn the keyboard definition back on. You can
quickly select the keyboard once again by pressing (Ctrl-6) twice. (See
"Tea and Macros," January '91 p39.)

left your document. If you need to exit a document that you are working
on, just type xz or other characters of your choice, then exit and save
your document as normal. When you're ready to continue with your work,

document has been previously saved, the macro proceeds to save and
replace. If the document hasn't been named yet, the macro prompts for a
name, saves the document and clears the screen. To use this macro, press
Macro (Alt-F10), type exdoc and press (Enter). (See "TIPS," January '91
     p91.)

INITCAP.WPM (5.1/5.0 macro) - This macro capitalizes the letter that the
cursor is on. It then places the cursor at the beginning of the next
word. To use, press Macro (Alt-F10), type initcap and press (Enter). To

template to design all of your individual budgets. To use, Retrieve
(Shift-F10) the file to your screen. Make the desired changes, then Save
(F10) the file under a different name, so you don't overwrite the
original file. (See "Balancing the Budget," January '91 p65.)
