HOW TO RELOAD AN APPLICATION TO GEOWORKS ENSEMBLE

The applications are on the Geos installation disks but can't be copied directly to GeoWorks\World as they're in compressed form and must be extracted by the GeoWorks installation program. But here's a great shortcut to going through the entire install from GWRepJohn: (thanks)

Re-install Ensemble and choose a directory name to install to, such as C:\NEW and not C:\GEOWORKS. Watch the screen and as soon as the file SOLI.GEO is extracted, you can press the escape key to end the process. Copy the file SOLI.GEO from C:\NEW\WORLD to your C:\GEOWORKS\WORLD directory. Delete C:\NEW and all its files and subdirectories. You're done!

This should work with any other file you want to restore.

A good idea may be to avoid the problem of reinstalling alltogether by backing up your GeoWorks\World directory (copying all of your applications files to another disk so you can just copy them back in case they become unusable). Here is a list of the filenames and applications they're for so you'll know what to backup:

GeoWrite = Write.geo
Geodraw  = Draw.geo
Geoplan  = Geoplan.geo
Geodex   = Geodex.geo
Calculator= Calc.geo
Solitare  = Soli.geo
Notepad   = Notepad.geo
Scrapbook = Scrapbk.geo
Preferences= Prefmgr.geo
Amer. Online= PCAO.geo

Remember, make your backup copies of these applications files from your Geoworks\World directory and not from your Geos installation disks as they are in compressed form on your installation disks and are not executable.
