HOW TO PARK YOUR HARD DRIVE
First a breif note on when and why to park your hard drive.
When you turn of your compluter, your hard drive is probably still ready for action with the read/write heads just hovering somewhere.
(Some larger hard drives are self parking. When in doubt, read your owner's manual). Most hard drives have the ability to "park" the heads, moving them to an empty area on your drive and/or locking them into place. This prevents any possibility that they may bounce around and cause your problems. You should consider parking your hard drive when you transport your computer. There are many utility programs that will do this for you.. and many are shareware.

Because laptops are moved so much, its particularly important to park the hard drive. Therefore, this tip is directed to Laptop owners.

Note: This tip comes to us from JohnH201 (Thanks a BUNCH!!)

Laptop users(or anyone):
"For an easy exit from GeoWorks Ensemble and parking the hard drive heads for safety, try this. Put a parking utility in your world directory. Give it a filenameToken in your GEOS.INI for a better looking icon also.
 Double click on your park icon and Geos will drop to DOS and park the hard drives. Turn off the computer and away you go. When you turn the computer and enter GeoWorks Ensemble again it will bring everything back just as you had it before. No mess no fuss, everything up and running just how you like it."

Another note from Robyn:
This tip will work for you whether or not you chose to edit TokenFilename in your goes.ini file. That will just give you a fancy icon. If you do chose to edit your ini file.. please, please, please make a backup copy first!!!
If you'd prefer, you could utilize your park utility "as is" without copying it your GeoWorks\World directory. Just set it up as a dos button in your dos programs room.
Finally, if you're a beginner and all of this sounds foreign to you, drop me some mail at GWRepRobyn and I'll try to lend a hand.
