Let's say you're going to download a file from AOL. The download is going to take 17 minutes. You don't want to just sit and look at the screen, and with Ensemble, you don't have to. Here's what to do:

1. Get your download ready to go, but don't start it: Select DOWNLOAD, give it a filename but don't say SAVE.

2. Point your mouse at the small box in the upper right corner of the screen (note: This is called the "control button"). Click (press) the right button. You'll notice that the AOL screen had gotten smaller. Now you can see part of your GeoWorks background.

3. Put your mouse pointer at the very bottom of your AOL window. Just at the boarder, it changes from a pointer to a down arrow. Click the right button and hold while moving the mouse upward. As soon as you can see part of the GeoManager, release the mouse button. You just made your AOL window smaller.

4. You're now ready to start your download. Mouse click on SAVE. (If the save option isn't showing, them move the window up by clicking on the menu bar, dragging upward and releasing). You will see the famaliar file transfer window.

5. Move your mouse down so that the pointer is in any part of the Geomanager window that's visible under the AOL window. Click the right button. Your screen now changes to GeoManager.

6. To play Solitare, point at the Solitare icon and double click (press the right button twice quickly). You can now play solitare as you usually do. If you stop the game, you will return to GeoManager.

7. To check on the progress of your download, point and click on the blue express E in the upper left corner of your screen then select America Online. To return to Solitare, click on E, then select solitare.

8. When your download is done, you will hear a beep. Remember, even though you're playing Solitare, you're still online with AOL and will be until you logoff.

(this example involves playing solitare during download, but you can use any other geoworks application by opening it from GeoManager instead of solitare).

NOTE: To save these instructions to disk, hit CTRL-S then give a file name (this means hold down your control key while typing S)
To print, select file: print.
