                         New Features of Version 6.0 & 6.1

The following features have been added to FAME version 6.0 that
were not included in version 5.1C.

      1. You can now designate up to seven publisher categories (for
example feminist) tailored to your needs using the new version of
the FAMEI program. You can assign them on an individual basis to
the publishers you have in the publisher database using FAME
routines C (new publishers) or D (old publishers). You can select
a subset of these categories and filter the output you get from
query L/M (Alphabetized list of publishers) or a new sub query B
for query X/Y that will list candidate publishers to whom you
      might send a specific poem.

      2. The program will keep track of the date of queries you send
using Query Z, subquery F/G asking when you accepted poem will be
published and show this data to you on request. (This will now
work the same as subquery E/F).

      3. The program will store the dates of up to 5 revisions for
each poem/story. On queries that show the date the poem was
written, the dates of the revisions will also appear.

      4. When you first assign a status to a poem/publisher pair (other
than Not Submitted), the program will store the current revision
number (or Original if no revisions) with that status. When you
change the status, that revision will remain associated with the
new status. The revision number will appear with the status on
Queries N/M, P/Q, and T. The revision number associated with a
status can be changed using database update option E.

      5. The length of the field containing the publisher contact has
been expanded from 40 to 60 characters.

      6. Minor changes have been made to the main menu which allow you
to directly go to the reminder options and publisher label file
option directly without going through a submenu.

                           Additions to Version 6.0a

      1. Option N/O will now show if you have written query or withdrawal
letters to the selected publisher using Option Z. The data on
the query letter about outstanding poems or the associated withdrawal
letter because of no response is cleared when you submit a new poem
to this publisher (i.e. the next time you enter a status of
Outstanding for this publisher). The data on the query letter about
poems accepted but not yet published is cleared the next time you
enter a status of Published for a poem with respect to this
      publisher.

      2. After the list of poems sorted by year is shown on Option H/I, a
summary indicating the number of poems published each year is now
shown. This summary is compiled using the initial date a poem was
      written.

                              Addition to Version 6.1

       1. The letter writing suboption for withdrawing poems published
elsewhere (Option Z, suboption C/D) has been significantly improved.
In prior versions you would enter each publisher who you wanted to
withdrawn poems from, and then enter the specific poems. To
prepare to write the letter, you would have to make a number of
other queries and record the data. Now all you have to do is enter
all the poems that just have been published. FAME then will
identify for you each publisher to whom one or more of those poems
is outstanding. You will be asked each time if you want to send
that publisher a withdrawal letter. If you answer "yes", the first
part of the letter withdrawing the subset of those poems that
previously had been submitted to that publisher will be written.
You will next be told how many poems are still outstanding to the
publisher, and asked if you want to submit additional poems. If so,
you will be given the option of viewing candidate poems. If you
choose this option, the program will switch to Option X, show you
the candidate poems, and then switch back to Option Z to let you
       finish the letter.
