Use any ASCII editor to create an application specific file with extension .pii (e.g.) WORD.PII. Make the first line of that file the Title for the Dialog Box. Make the second line the path and name of the application. Fill the third up to the tenth lines with paths to start-up directories you use.(e.g.). LINE 1: MICROSOFT WORD 5.0 (Title for Dialog Box) LINE 2: C:\WORD\WORD (Path and name of application) LINE 3: C:\WORD\DOCUMENTS1 (A start-up directory) LINES 4-10 .................. (Other start-up directories) Next place the command PIFHELP path\filename.PII in the Icon's Properties... box. When you double click the associated Icon, PIF HELPER will execute and wait for you to specify a start-up subdirectory, move to that subdirectory and start your Program. The most recently used or last start-up subdirectory is placed in the editbox. The others are placed in the Alternatives listbox. Clicking on the Goto Button will launch the application. Click on a path in the List Box to move it to the Edit Box. PIF HELPER will also create new sub-directories, update, and maintain your .pii file.
