FlashPoint ZIP/ZIPX for Windows Read Me! _______________________________________________ (Important Information and Special Limited Time Offer) ZIP/ZIPX , Version 3.01.03 Preliminary Release 3 -- January 14, 1992 Copyright (c) 1992 Richard S. Patterson FlashPoint Development P. O. Box 270492 Houston, Texas 77277 (713) 726-1892 All Rights Reserved. U.S. Government Limited and Restricted Rights Well Its About Time! -------------------- A set of true Windows applications that will not only let you look at a ZIP file member directory listing or even extract files, but will let you create, modify, comment and test any ZIP file that is compatible with PKZIP/PKUnZIP, version 1.1, file formats. This is a Preliminary Release -- There's More To Come! ------------------------------------------------------ We promised this release would have been out by December 15, 1991, but we released it three weeks later than promised. Still not as bad as OS/2. We also have some other things yet to do, like write the Registered User Guide and WinHelp application file, FPZIP.HLP, and add a few more features. These won't be done until the end of March, 1992 -- very close to the planned introduction of the next version of your favorite operating environment. When done they'll be shipped to all registered users at no additional charge. Furthermore, even though we have tested each application on our own systems, each user system is different and certain compatibility problems may arise; different system configurations tend to reveal minor bugs that still may be hidden in the code and need squashing. Our goal is to provide full compatibility and correct any bugs brought to our attention prior to shipping the official release of FlashPoint ZIP/ZIPX for Windows, version 3.01.0#, at the end of March. Prior to the official release, you will be able to locate the most current Preliminary Release on many of CompuServe's User Forums, and many Bulletin Board Systems (BBS) throughout the world. These releases are originally uploaded in self-extracting archive files named ZIPW1#.EXE (where the "#" symbol represents the current preliminary release number). Any major bug fix releases will be sent by disk to registered users as available. Our Problem! ------------ Naturally, we didn't want to hold up the release of the ZIP/ZIPX for Windows applications, just for a few minor but useful details such as documentation and help files, and we certainly didn't want our users to pay full registration and license fees and then wait a few months for the complete product. Of course, as any other software company, we would also like to see revenues start rolling in, and not have to wait a few months either -- after many months of hard work goes into a project, every day counts. Our Solution -- A Twenty Percent (20%) Special Discount! -------------------------------------------------------- Only one thing to do! Have a sale! Offer a discount for early registrations! On every pre-paid order received before March 31, 1992, you can deduct a "Special Discount" of twenty percent (20%) off your registration and license fees. This discount offer applies to both single copy and site license fees, but not to related media charges for extra disks, postage and handling or other charges. So, run ZIP/ZIPX through its paces now, and, if you decide you like what you see, register it before the March 31, 1992, deadline.
