                         FCC Frequency Retrieval System
                               Data File Contents

The data included with Version 2.0 of the FCC FRS is derived from the FCC
Master Frequency List. No modifications of the data are made by ScanWare
except for two enhancements to improve its usefulness: each record of the
data is compared character-by-character with all others and any duplicate
records are deleted; wherever a county name field is blank, if there is
sufficient city and state data available, the missing county name is
inserted from a known accurate data source.

For ease of use the data supplied to the consumer is divided into the 11
FCC subsets. This allows the user with a specific need to quickly locate
their data. With respect to the data, it should be noted that some subsets
contain frequencies which are used exclusively in only certain areas of the
country. Prime examples of this would be Subset 2 which is used in less
than a dozen states, and Subset 6 which contains frequencies used almost
exclusively in the Northeastern US and Southern California.

  Subset Description of Contents

1 Broadcast Services (BA, BF, BS, BT)
2 Earth Stations and Misc Common Carrier (CS, CX, CI, CP)
3 Land Mobile Rural, Offshore Common Carrier (CD, CG, CO, CR, CL)
     4 Experimental (X)
5 Microwave (except BA), Cable, PRB Microwave Common Carrier (CE, CZ)
6 Land Mobile PRB (470-512 MHz)
7 Industrial Services PRB (ZA, RS, all I's (except IB))
     8 Public Safety & Land Transportation (P's & L's)
9 Business & Industrial Services PRB (IB)
    10 Special Mobile Radio (SMR) & 900 MHz Services (G's & Y's)
    11 Aviation & Marine Services (A's & M's)

The Standard Dataset provided with the FCC FRS Version 2.0 encompasses all
of the above subsets and is divided into individual states. The frequency
range of the Standard Dataset is 10 kHz - 2036 MHz. Optionally available is
the Extended Range Dataset which includes the entire spectrum extending
from the lowest frequencies to above 300 GHz.
