                              ANSiGal History file
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
3/6/93 Version 1.1
Found ANSiGal's first bug, it was in the AGSETUP.EXE file. If the
configuration file did not have a registration number in it then the
setup program would stop at that line when saving the file. Fixed it,
you can now leave it blank or please register it.

Changed the cosmetic look and added some new commands to the novice help
menu. You can use the space bar or the enter key to abort the ANSi
anytime during the display of it. They also will send you back to the
menu after you are done looking at the ANSI Artwork.

Added a plea for registering ANSiGal when a user enters D to download.

ANSiGal now supports up to 16 COM ports so you can have up to 16 nodes.
You could add a local node, just copy one of the ANSIGALx.CNF to a file
called AGLOCAL.CNF and edit the first field to where the NODE path and
USER drop file is at. Load up ANSiGal the same way you do the others in
your startup batch file. So you could have 17 nodes from one copy of the
ANSiGal door. AGSETUP has been changed to be able to edit 17 nodes
   instead of 4.

I gave you a little animated loader to help keep you from getting board
setting up the configuration file. Just a boarder for when it loads and
   saves the configration files.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
05/02/94 Version 2.0
                            Major release!!!
New features:

Now supports .RIP, you can display .RIP localy with the use of 1 of 2
external RIPscript viewing programs. Tested with Deadview version 2.0 or
Ripeview version 1.53. Ripeview 1.54 was to large for memory. Read
SAVEWARE.DOC on what the author has found about running either of these
external programs. Available fro download from the SaveWare Computer
Shopping BBS, listed in the SAVEWARE.DOC file.

Now supports .ASC, as far as I know ANSiGal is the only door that can
display .ASC files where you can scroll up or down the list and also use
find and find again. I have not seen a BBS let you do this either. Great
if you want to use ANSiGal as a News, Magazine, Book viewing program for
your BBS. You can always set it up special for this and then another
copy of ANSiGal for .RIP and .ANS screens.

New packet system. You can now upload and download packets compressed by
PKZIP.EXE. You can enter a new packet date so to only package up only
files that where uploaded on or after the date you specify. You will get
a FILES.BBS list that shows the file names and descriptions. You can
upload this packet to another ANSiGal door on another BBS and it will use
the FILES.BBS list to import the descriptions from.

Now you can do searches though the files list to find any text. Find
   and Find Again features.

In the editor, Changed the V key to the Enter key, added keys [ and ] for
moving up or down the file list, you can alternatively use the up and
down arrow keys on the keypad. This way you can now stay in the editor
and edit more then one file, instead of having to go back and forth from
the file list to the editor.

Added a third help screen, needed room for the new Packet system and
   other new features.

You can configure ANSiGal to start up from any gallery 0-9 or put an "M"
in the configuration and it will simply startup with the menu screen
first. You new ANSiGal users can then see right off there is more then
just the default base and choose from the list right off.

If you enter the door localy ANSiGal will check the status of your Num
Lock and turn it on if it is not already on. On exit it will turn it off
if it was not already on. In otherwords it leaves the Num Lock in the
state it was found but turns it on while you are in ANSiGal so you don't
have to do it yourself. She's a sweety!

New program added, AGTOPALL.EXE ANSi bulletin generator. Run this
program before the ANSIGAL.EXE and it will create 4 ANSi files in the
base that you choose. Just edit the AGTOPALL.CNF, first line is base
number from 0-9 and the second lines up to 100 is a list of names you do
not want included in the bulletin's for Top Uploader, Top Downloader and
Top User. This will not effect the Last On bulletin. Remember if you
change the base number later on then you will probably want to go edit
out the old bulletins in the old file area. Every time AGTOPALL.EXE is
   run the bulletins are overwritten.

Added a welcome screen right after the display of the ANSiGal opening
screen. If ANSiGal detects the user has a terminal capable of displaying
RIP graphics and it is not a Local user then ANSiGal will check the
ANSiGal path for the presence of a WELCOME.RIP screen. If WELCOME.RIP
does not exist then it will check the ANSiGal path for the presence of a
WELCOME.ANS and display that instead. If the user does not have RIP
support, meaning he has ANSi support only, then ANSiGal will check the
ANSiGal path for the presence of a WELCOME.ANS and display it. In any
case if you don't have either WELCOME.ANS or WELCOME.RIP in the ANSiGal
subdirectory then this feature is disabled. You can use the Welcome
screen to display what the door is being used for. Make a ANSi with The
Draw or other ANSi editor and have it explain that they have entered the
Book Shelf, Magazine Rack, ANSi/Rip gallery. Whatever you are using the
door for the welcome screen is a good way to explain this. You can have
2 copies or more of ANSiGal on your system and use one for Magazines and
text files and the other for RIP and ANSi graphics viewing. Just
remember to put in the text "Press space to continue!" or the new users
in the door may not realize this.

AGSETUP.EXE Doc display viewer for the SAVEWARE.DOC now has Find and Find
Again features. This should make life a lot simpler for you.

AGINIT.EXE now will not only initialize new setups of ANSiGal but can
also be used to upgrade from version 1.1. Just run it and it will prompt
you if you are upgrading or installing ANSiGal as new. You can abort the
program at any of the prompts.

Added a ANSIGAL.LOG the shows when a user loged on, when he loged off,
how long he was on for and his upload and download activity for the
packet system. If he uploads a packet, it will show you what system it
came from if it was a ANSiGal formated packet.

Found a bug in the AGSETUP.EXE where it was not outputing the
configuration name correctly for nodes past 9, it should have outputed
ANSIGLxx.CNF so that the 2 character node number will fit in the DOS 8
character forname convention. Also fixed AGSETUP and ANSiGal to let you
sysops with non standard port's to be able to use the DSZ protocol on all
nodes. Simply stated you can edit the command line that ANSiGal passes
to DSZ. Please see the SAVEWARE.DOC for the specifics.

Found some bugs and sqashed them. To trivial to mention. If you find any
bugs in this new version then please let me know, do not assume that
somebody else will report it. If you can remember the events that lead
you up to point that the bug occurred that will help me to repeat the
bug, if not then simply stating the bug will also be beneficial to me in
killing it (correcting it :) ).

Raised the price to register ANSiGal to compensate for all the hard work
I put into this new version. If you are a registered user of ANSiGal 1.0
or 1.1 then you can upgrade to version 2.0 for $15.

Added a SITES.TXT list, read this to find out where to download ANSiGal
packets. You can log on to there system to get more great ANSi, .RIP,
.ASC files for your door. These packets contain the files list with
descriptions so you don't have to go though all the work of describing
them. Add your BBS to this list.

New program, GTUSER.EXE. This is to help convert the access info. in
GTUSER drop files, read the GTUSER.DOC on this helpful utility.

BNU.DOC and BNU.PAT. Help for setting up your BNU Fossil driver for
systems with non standard ports. Not really needed for the ANSiGal door
but I seen a lot of people have trouble with non standard ports so I
thought I would be a nice guy and help ya all out!

I am very pleased with the overwhelming response to version 1.1, I know
that this new 2.0 version has really improved the door quite a bit, so I
suspect you will be very pleased with it. Greets to all you
ANSi/RIP/ACii Fans and sysops runing the ANSiGal door out there, from
   Don Rieb.
