Icon Manager
Windows 3.1 Shareware Product
Impact Software

Requires Windows 3.1, and use of Program Manager or Norton Desktop

One of the joys of being a Windows users is the ability to configure the
operating environment to exhibit your personality. Changing the icons in
Program Manager is the most visible way of doing this. However, with the
thousands of icons available it is very difficult for a user to determine
which one they want to use.

Icon Manager will help alleviate this headache. As the name implies, this
program allows you to manage and build a library of icons in a graphical
manner. All of your icons can now be easily accessed to future use or
viewing. The program is simple to use and install. Icon Manager works with
the standard icon files, from the individual .ICO files to the numerous
library formats; DLL, ICA, ICL, IL, NIL, and EXE.

A nice feature of Icon Manager is the ability to copy or move your icons
between libraries. You can now put all of your favorite icons in one library
file, rather than having to work with several different library files.

You may also consolidate all of your individual .ICO files into an easy to
manage library file. All you have to do is copy the individual icons to a new
window and save them in any library format you want. If you are like me and
have hundreds of individual icon files, this is a must and will make your
future workings with icons much easier. This task is very time consuming,
because you must copy the icons manually one at a time, though the process is
very simple.

You can also delete icons from libraries, so your files will use less disk
space. Another benefit is when you install or change icons for a program you
don't have to scroll through the many icons you will never use.

Icon Manager's biggest feature is its ability to easily replace or update
icons in Program Manager or Norton Desktop. With just a few clicks of the
mouse you can change any icon displayed on your screen. Icon Manager can only
change an existing icon you have implemented in Program Manager, it cannot
install a new program with an icon.

The main purpose of this program is to manage icons you already have on your
system, not to create new icons. If creating your own icons is a must then
this program is not for you. However, if you just need something small, quick
and easy to manage your existing icon files then this program may be the one
you've been looking for.
