Peace of the Dove

When I remember the things you did
I can't help but feel blue
Because you were there to forbid
And I may not have been true
You were a friend in need
A rare orchid desiring water and light
You grew up and onward like new seed
With me you took flight
It was the sun that gave you life
All that remains is dark disdain
Failure to see your strife
This was my greatest pain
Yours was the generosity of love
Setting free the peace of the dove
