 Categories: Tightwad, Kids, Crafts
      Yield: 1 servings

      1 pk Unflavored gelatin
    1/2 c Cornstarch
      3 tb Sugar
      2 c Cold water
           Food coloring or tempera
1 tb Dishwashing liquid or soft
           -soap
           White paper

Soak gelatin in 1/4 cup warm water and put aside.

In a medium saucepan, combine cornstarch and sugar, gradually add
water, and cook slowly over low heat, stirring constantly, for 5
  minutes, or until well blended.

Remove from heat and add the softened gelatin. Divide mixture into
  separate containers for each color.

For each color, first add a drop or two of liquid detergent and then
the coloring, drop by drop, until you've achieved a shade you like.
Food coloring is best for this.

Store paint in the refrigerator forup to 6 weeks.

  To Use:
: Allow children plenty of paper to draw on. The glossy side of
freezer wrap is good, as is plain white shelfpaper. Spread the paper
out onto a hard durable waterproof surface.
: have clean water and small sponges handy and begin by wetting
the paper, running the dmpened sponge from teh middle fo the paper
out to the edges a few times until the paper is totally wet. Keep it
wet as the kids work, and only let it dry when you are sure the
  painting is done.

  Hint:
: If you would like to make sure the paints remain usable for a
long time in storage, add a few drops of glycerin to the mixture when
  you add the detergent.
