SO WHAT IS TRASHCAN?
--------------------

Trashcan is a drag and drop file erase utility used in conjunction with the
Windows 3.1 File Manager or an equivalent product. To erase a
file or files, or mark those files for later deletion, drag the file
from the File Manager and drop onto the Trashcan icon.
It has four operational modes:

	STANDARD ERASE
This is a normal erase using the same method as the File Manager's
	Delete command.

	DELAYED ERASE
The files to be deleted are 'marked' and erased later when you
have not used your computer after a specified
	period of time.

	FILE RECOVERY
Files are erased but copied to a specified trash directory
and are deleted when you empty the trashcan.

FILE RECOVERY WITH EMPTY ON EXIT
Similar to File recovery but the files are erased when you
empty the trash or exit Trashcan.

For more details on how to use Trashcan select Help from Trashcan's system menu.

INSTALLING TRASHCAN
-------------------

Trashcan consists of the following files:

	TRASHCAN.EXE
	TRASHCAN.TXT (this file)
	TRASHCAN.HLP
	TRASH.DLL
	CTL3DV2.DLL
	TRASHCAN.INI

Copy trashcan.exe, trashcan.hlp, trash.dll to either the Windows directory
or any directory of your choice.
These three files, must though, reside in the same directory.

Copy the file ctl3dv2.dll to your Windows System directory.

Copy the file trashcan.ini to your Windows directory.

Create a trash directory for files to be stored awaiting deletion,
ie: C:\WINDOWS\TRASH (the default setting.)

Once Trashcan is running you may change the default settings using the
Preferences command from Trashcan's system menu.
