Shipping List:

This program consist of two files:

HKENHAN.TXT - This text file. It is formatted for 80 character line width.
HKENHAN.BGS - BGLCOMP source file
HKENHAN.BGL - The scenery file
CHECK.R8 - checkerboard bitmap

*** FS5HKG.ZIP is needed to operate with this program. That file is
available on Compuserve FSFORUM Library 6.

Installation:

Copy the file HKENHAN.BGL into the "SCENERY" subdirectory of your
flight simulator.

Example: COPY HKENHAN.BGL C:\FLTSIM5\SCENERY

Copy the file CHECK.R8 into the "TEXTURE" subdirectory of your
flight simulator.

Example: COPY CHECK.R8 C:\FLTSIM5\TEXTURE

This scenery package was developed using the FS5 scenery compiler
BGCOMP version 1.0c by Hiroo Umeno.

*****************************************************************

HKENHAN.BGL adds the checkerboard hill scenery to the Runway 13 approach
at Hong Kong. It also adds the curved approach lights for this runway.

Notes:

1. Try this as a night approach with the ceiling set to 700 ft.

2. As in all scenery, some approximation of locations is necessary.

3. The checkerboard squares are larger than actual size. This was
necessary to have a more realistic visual range.

Problems:

Someone with more expertise in scenery design may be able to fix the
following problems:

1. See-through - The scenery is placed in background to existing
mountains, buildings, and the airport. This is most apparent when flying
below 300 ft. and northwest of the hill.

2. Fly-through - The aircraft does not crash when flown into the hill.

3. Size of Check.R8 - it may be possible to reduce the size of this
bitmap file as only a few rows of data is used.

4. The checkerboard needs to be lighted at night.

Hope you enjoy - Joe Phillips
