   XLSEXE : Instructions

   Installation:

1. Place disk in disk drive. From Windows Program Manager
select File - Run and type A:\ Install.
If using drive other than A: type appropriate letter.
During installation select the desired directory and
Windows group. You may use the default C:\Xlsexe
   directory or choose another directory.

   Create a Program:

1. First decide which Excel worksheets (*.xls) you wish to use.
Excel 4 files are used directly.
For Excel 5 files, first save the file as an Excel 4 file.
See Excel 5 documentation for help.
This program does not handle charts (*.xlc) or the macros
   contained in worksheets.

2. Select the Create a Program icon and select Set Up from
right side of menu bar. Select Title to enter a name for the
program which will then appear on the initial screen.

3. Select Sheet 1 - 8 to set up different worksheets.
First enter a name for the worksheet which appear on the
command button on the initial screen.
Select whether or not to enable the cell protection as it
was set on the Excel worksheet. If cell protection is
enabled, the Data sort command does not function and
the Data command will not appear on the worksheet menu.
Then enter the file to be used. Double click on the
directory and file until the full path and file appear
   in the file window.
Select Save to save the information and return.
Select Cancel to return without saving.
Select Clear to remove the worksheet from the program.

4. The Save command creates command buttons on the
initial form with the name of the worksheet. Selecting the
command button will run the worksheet.
The worksheet created will be exactly like the Excel
worksheet from which it came. Formats, Patterns, Formulas,
Cell Protection, etc. will be maintained.
The worksheet will run with the basic File commands
( Open, Save, Print, etc. ) and the basic Edit commands.
The Data sort command will appear if cell protection was
   not enabled.

5. After saving all worksheets, select Remove Set Up.
Select OK to save all information and remove the Set Up
Menu Item. The next time the program runs the command
buttons will appear and the Set Up menu item will not.

   Save the Program

1. After the program creation is completely finished,
select the Save the Program icon.

2. Select a directory to save the program to.
Do not save to the same directory where Xlsexe is.
If you are going to run the program on other computers,
the directory chosen here will be the directory into
which the files must be copied to on other computers,
unless a Windows installation program is used.

3. Enter a valid filename with an .exe extension for the program.
Select OK and this will transfer the following files to the
   chosen directory:
     (Filename) .exe
     xlsexe.ini
     setup.lex
     sheet(1-8) .lex
These are the files needed to run the program. To run the
   program, execute (Filename) .exe.

4. After you have saved the program, you can then use
Create a Program to make a new program.

   Distribute the Program

   1. To run the program on other computers you must
include the files saved during Save the Program:
        (Filename) .exe
        xlsexe.ini
        setup.lex
        sheet(1-8) .lex

You must also include the following 6 files from the
      Windows\System directory:
        Vbrun300.dll
        Ver.dll
        Vtss.vbx
        Vtssdll.dll
        Ss3d3.vbx
        Threed.vbx

The files may be compressed onto a disk, except for
Ver.dll, which must not be compressed.

   2. To run on other computers the files:
        (Filename) .exe
        xlsexe.ini
        setup.lex
        sheet(1-8) .lex
must be copied into the same directory name that was used
during Save the Program. The other files should go to the
      Windows\System directory.
If a Windows installation program is used, then the files
can be installed to any directory. Several inexpensive
installation programs are available from online forums.

   3. The program created will run on other computers
without Excel. And it is not necessary to include the
Excel *.xls files that were used to create the program.

   Printing Page Set Up:

1. The Page Setup Dialog Box allows selections to be made for
header and footer text, page margins, page print order,
page centering, and other worksheet related print options.
