ANARTS (RTTY) News Bulletin 832 23rd October 1994

2nd operator silent 

It  is with deepest regret we report that  XYL,  Ruth,  second 
operator to Henry VK8HA, passed away on 14th October following 
a fall.

We  extend deepest sympathy to Henry and family in their  loss 
and  hope  we speak for all listeners to these  broadcasts  in 
this matter.

Rest in peace, Ruth.

DARC Corona 10m Digital Contest, November 6 1994

This  contest is sponsored by Deutscher Amateur-Radio-Club  e. 
V. (DARC)

Contest period :  Sunday,  November 6,  from 1100z to 1700z (6 
hours).

  Note:  Contest will take place on the first Sunday of March, July, 
  September, and November of each year.  

Modes: RTTY, AMTOR, PACTOR and Clover.

Bands: 10m only

Classes : A - single op; B - multi-op; C - SWL.

Contest call: 
     
      for RTTY: "CQ CORONA TEST DE ..."
     
      for AMTOR/PACTOR:  use FEC (mode B) for "CQ CORONA  TEST 
          de selcall XXXX"

Use  ARQ (mode A) for answering and contest exchange.  Contest 
exchange in any other mode is subject to disqualification.

Exchange :  USA stations:  send RST plus QSO nr plus name plus 
            state.

            All others send RST plus QSO nr plus name.

Contacts:  Additional  QSOs are allowed with same  station  on 
different mode after a 15 minute interval, or after a QSO with 
another station.

Multipliers:  Each DXCC/WAE country,  and each USA state,  and 
each call district in JA, VE and VK, (NOT USA). Count only the 
first   QSO  with  a  USA  stationj  as  a  DXCC/WAE   country 
multiplier.

QSO points: Count 1 (one) point for each completed QSO.

Final score: Total QSOs x total multipliers.

Awards:  To  top stations in each class,  country and district 
mentioned above.

Logs: Use  separate logsheets for each node. Log  sheets  must 
contain:  Date, Mode, Time UTC, Callsign, message sent/message 
received,  name,  USA-state,  first-time multiplier preix, and 
QSO  points.  Also required is a summary sheet with a list  of 
claimed multipliers.  If entry is multi-op,  please list names 
and callsigns of all ops. Comments are very much appreciated. 

Deadlines:  All  logs  must be received by 60 days  after  the

SOLAR ACTIVITY WAS VERY LOW 14TH TO 18TH OCTOBER, MODERATE ON 
19TH, AND LOW ON 20TH. THERE WAS AN M3 FLARE ON 19TH. 

THE  GEOMAGNETIC FIELD AT LEARMONTH (WA) WAS QUIET  17TH-18TH, 
AND QUIET TO UNSETTLED OTHERWISE.

IONOSPHERIC F2 CRITICAL FREQUENCIES WERE NEAR PREDICTED VALUES 
WITH  ENHANCEMENTS OF UP TO 30 PER CENT DURING LOCAL NIGHT  ON 
18TH-19TH OCTOBER.


              FORECAST (21 OCTOBER - 27 OCTOBER)

SOLAR:        LOW

GEOMAGNETIC:   SHOCK  EXPECTED  AT 1700 HOURS ON 22ND FROM  M3 
              FLARE.  ACTIVE CONDITIONS ON 23RD, THEN QUIET TO 
              UNSETTLED.

IONOSPHERIC:   DEGRADED HF COMMS EXPECTED ON  23RD,  OTHERWISE 
              NORMAL.

The items in this week's bulletin are courtesy of Tedd, KB8NW,

SWAZILAND.   Adam, SP2JYX, signs 3DA/SP2JYX and has been on 15 
and 20 meters, most of the time on SSB.  QSL via CBA.

THAILAND.   Reiner,  DL2VK,  will be here for approximately  6 
months.  He  will  be signing HS0/DL2VK and plans  to  operate 
primarily CW. Some Packet, AmTOR, PacTOR and SSB may be in the 
works.

LAOS.   Minoru,  JA3MNP, should be on the air from the station 
of XW8KPL as XW3MNP October 20 to 27, including RTTY.  QSL via 
PO Box 59, Kyotonishi 6165, Japan.

CAMBODIA.  XU7VK has been on 3506 kHz at around 1316z.

SAUDI  ARABIA.   Mike,  K3UOC,  is now working in Riyadh.   If 
plans to obtain a Saudi license fall through,  he hopes to  be 
able to operate 7Z1AB, the station at the U.S. Embassy.

NAURU.  Teo,  DJ1RL,  and Harry,  DL6NA, should be signing C2/ 
their  call signs by the time this bulletin hits the airwaves.  
Teo is the CW op and Harry likes SSB.   They will  concentrate 
on  the  lower bands.   Try 1827/1832 kHz.   QSL via the  DARC 
Bureau or their home calls.   The following three entries  are 
their planned itinerary after Nauru operations.

FIJI as 3D2AN and 3D2FT, October 17, 18 and 19.

SOUTH COOK ISLANDS as ZK1/ their home calls, October 19 to 22.

FRENCH POLYNESIA as FO/ their home calls, October 22 to 28.

SOMALIA.   SM7CIP  operates T5AR with a barefoot rig  and  low 
profile  antennas.   His QSLs will not be printed until  early 
1995, so please be patient.  QSL via SM0DJZ.

SYRIA.  Mike, VE3UWC, is with UN Peace-keeping forces here for 
about  3 more months.   He signs VE3UWC/4U,  though little  is 
known  of  his  operating habits other than to try  14220  kHz 
between 2130 and 2200z.

ETHIOPIA.   Listen for ET3BT on the Family Hour Net at 14226.5 
kHz around 2300z.

MACAO.  Listen for Roger,  G3SXW,  and  Nigel,  G3TXF,  around 
October 19 for a week of CW operating.  Plans are to emphasize 
LF and WARC bands.

GUYANA.   Listen for Eddie, G0AZT, and Glenn, W6OTC, operating 
RTTY  as  8R1TT.   Plans  were to be in on the JARTS  WW  RTTY 
Contest  last weekend.   Check 80 through 10 meters since  the 
contest.  QSL  via Eddie Schneider,  POB  5194,  Richmond,  CA 
94805.

ANGUILLA/SINT MAARTEN.   Warren,  WB1HBB,  will be doing  some 
operating  while vacationing on these islands.   He will  sign 
PJ7/WB1HBB  from October 21 through 28.  Try 14263 kHz at 1230 
and 2100z.  QSL his home call.

COCOS ISLAND.  TI2JJP should be on as TI9JJP October 20 to 29.

QSL CORRECTION, or please use phonetics.  Rick, AA6KS, reports 
that  he is not,  repeat not the QSL Manager for  ZF8BS.   The 
correct route is via AA6KX.
