                  Using Zoom/modems with Dialer programs

The lower end Zoom/modems and the LC (Low Current) modems do not
switch the 'phone' jack out when dialing. You will hear the entire process
if you have the phone off hook.

The other (V-series) Zoom/modems switch out the 2nd jack while
dialing. When you press the key to hang up the modem, the 'phone' jack will
be switched in so you can talk on the phone.

In both cases, just hang up the phone when you are done. They should
be setup as Hayes compatible Smartmodem in the dialer programs. If there is
choice, but you can put in a string, try AT&F&C1&D2 (&D2 is important,
controls modem hang-up). The hangup string is ATH or ATH0. Normally this is
done ~~~+++~~~ATH0 (pause ESC pause Hangup).

You can also put ,,;ATH at the end of the phone number. This tells
the modem to dial, wait 4 seconds, return to command mode and hang up the
line. You must pick up the phone before the modem hangs up.
example 423-1076,,;ATH for longer wait add a , for each 2 seconds.
