  Majyk Empires
  BARBARIANS!
An expansion disk for Majyk Empires
  Version 1.01 / 9 November 1993
(c)1993 CIOE Corp / by Neale Davidson

  * Introduction

Tired of the constant fighting in their lands, the neutral
citizens of the realms have taken up arms to strike back
against their oppressors. Enter the Barbarians!

Now, neutral cities build up armies and strike against any
neighboring empires with infantry, knights, calvary, and
wolfriders. Being a usurper in the Majyk Empires has just
  gotten even more difficult.

Majyk Empires, Barbarians is the second add-on disk to your
existing Majyk Empires game. When used in a maintanence batch
file, it will enter the GAMEMAP.DAT file and wreak its havok on
the world. A report of its havoc is given in the EVENTS.DAT
news file. (This file is generated by ME version 1.00 and
  later.)

  * Installing Barbarians

Majyk Empires Barbarians is meant to be run as part of nightly
  maintanence.

Your nightly batch file (sometimes called newday.bat) should
change the directory to the Majyk Empires game, and then
  execute BARBARN.EXE.

A sample of this batch file follows:

    CD C:\WC30\MAJYK
    BARBARN.EXE
    EXIT

The BARBARN files should be uncompressed into the Majyk Empires
directory, along with the game itself. The files needed are
  listed below.

  BARBARN.EXE - The executable file
  BARBARN.DOC - This file

That's it, you've now added warring barbarians to what were
once helpless innocent victims of war.

  * The Barbarian Turn

When Barbarians executes, it basically gives one turn to the
neutral armies and cities on the map. In Barbarians, however,
only neutral armies are moved and built. Population will grow
as a result of Majyk Empires itself.

Barbarians will first randomly place up to six armies somewhere
on the map. These armies could be Settlers, Infantry, Calvary,
  Knights, or Wolfriders.

Barbarians will then go through all neutral cities and change
their builds to either Settlers, Infantry, Calvary, Knights, or
Wolfriders. These are the only builds that Barbarians knows how
  to handle.

Next, Barbarians will then check production for each town,
creating their assigned units as available.

Barbarians will lastly move its units around the map,
pillaging, conquering, or otherwise causing harm to the
  Empires.

Barbarians effects, such as combat or "spontaneous" generation
of armies, will be documented in the EVENTS.DAT datafile which
is generated by Majyk Empires 1.00 and later.

  * The Barbarian Hordes

  Army ATK DEF MV
  Settlers 1d6 1d6 1
  Infantry 1d6 1d6 1
  Calvary 2d6 1d6 2
  Knights 2d6 2d6 2
  Wolfriders 3d6 1d6 3

As you can tell from above, the barbarians have a much smaller
diversity of troops than do standard players, but they are
still formidable, particularly when the major players are still
  at lower levels.

Settlers are the tamest of the units, as they primarily seek
new places to expand, and pretty much ignore enemy armies and
  cities.

Infantry units are only a mild threat, but can be built
quickly. They always seek empty cities first, otherwise they
will attack any nearby units. Infantry form the majority of
  barbarian units.

Calvary are a bit faster than infantry, but otherwise act in
the same manner. There are usually half the number of calvary
  as infantry.

Knights are the most formidable units, as they are difficult to
kill. There are few knights in the barbarian hordes, but their
speed and fortitude make them dangerous foes.

Wolfriders are the sole majykal units in the barbarian army,
and they are quite sparse in number. With both great speed and
powerful attacks, wolfriders are dangerous enemies to stumble
  across.
