     While the author might call it a monitor, I think the name 'Disk Editor 
     and  Utility" best applies to this program.   It is a full  blown  disk 
     editor  plus  it  does things  like  formatting,  disk/sector  copying, 
     checking for disk viruses and more.  I have found it to be equal to, if 
     not better, than any of the disk editors currently on the market in the 
     USA.

     As  the name implies,  Monomon only works in monochrome (those  Germans 
     are fanatical about monochrome) but to be fair, there is no way that it 
     could give the output to the screen that it does if it worked in color.  
     It does seem to work on all current US TOS versions.

     A few notes (this file is the only documentation you'll get),  when you 
     leave Monomon,  you'll be asked if you want 8x8 text or 8x16.  The 8x16 
     mode  is your normal 80x24  monochrome text mode,  the 8x8 mode  leaves 
     your  system  in  a 80x48 monochrome mode.   Like  most  American  disk 
     editors,  it will not handle partitions larger than 16-meg and it  will 
     only handle drives/partitions A-L.

     I've done most of the German to English translations in the program but 
     I  don't guarantee 100% accuracy.   Some of it was translated by  using 
     the program, seeing how it worked, seeing what the prompts said at that 
     point and then translating the prompts in the program file.

     For other parts,  since I don't speak or write German,  I had to depend 
     on  a German to English dictionary.   Since most of dictionaries  don't 
     speak "computerese", some of the translations are very loosely done and 
     guessed at....
          Example:  One  of the words that they used for memory  buffer  was 
     'belegt' which translated as 'sandwich' (i.e.  area between the end  of 
     the actual program and free memory...sandwiched in).

     Also, there were times when I just didn't have room in the program file 
     to  translate  properly  for  our American  English,  so  some  of  the 
     translations might seem a triffle literal, stiff or vague.....
          Example: 'Ja' translates as 'Yes',  but 'Yes' is three letters and 
     there were only two spaces available in the program.  So I could either 
     translate it as 'Ya' or leave the 'Ja'; I left the 'Ja'.
          Note:  Anytime you see a prompt that says 'J/N', that means Yes/No 
     but you'll have to press the 'J' key for yes.   I wasn't going to  mess 
     with the programs keyboard routines.

     Finally, there were some parts that didn't translate via the dictionary 
     to English and I couldn't figure out how to use (the ADCE function  for 
     one example and the Cut/Paste/Write function for another),  so I  can't 
     guarantee those few areas are translated properly.

     All  in all,  with a little trial and error,  I think that you'll  find 
     that  99% of the program is translated well enough to make the  program 
     fully usable.   But remember,  this is a very powerful program so don't 
     attempt the learning process with important disks and data.
