// MasterBrowse 4.9 (w\ MasterBrowse Installation Program V.4.9) // Copyright 1993, 1994, 1995, Michel Forget // Electric Storm Software This document explains how to install MasterBrowse; it does not contain the documentation that explains how to use MasterBrowse, though. That information is presented to you in the file MBROWSE.DOC after installation. To install the MasterBrowse Text File Viewer, please double-click on INSTALL.APP and provide the installation program with the following information: Destination Path ---------------- The destination path is the folder in which MasterBrowse will be installed. If you do not want to type the destination path, you can use the file selector to locate it simply by double-clicking on the editable text field. Boot Drive ---------- This is the drive that your system boots from; it is usually the drive that contains your accessories and \AUTO folder. MasterBrowse Multitasking AES Client ------------------------------------ This information is only required if you have Geneva, MultiTOS, or Mag!X. If you do not have any of these replacement operating systems, select "None". Otherwise, select the button that corresponds to your configuration. Alternate Viewer ---------------- For MultiTOS and Geneva, MasterBrowse can be configured to call an alternate viewer for picture files or special document types that MasterBrowse cannot normally process. If you want to use this feature, follow these five steps: 1. Click on the "Install Alternate Viewer" check-box. 2. Enter the path of the alternate viewer in the "Source Path" editable field. The files in this path will be copied to the destination path (with the other components of MasterBrowse). 3. Enter the filename of the alternate viewer in the "Alternate Viewer Filename" editable field. This information is needed so that MasterBrowse can determine which of the files in the "Source Path" is the alternate viewer. 4. The next step is to determine what the minimum file size is that MasterBrowse will be called for. Any files that are below that size (regardless of whether or not they would normally be passed to MasterBrowse) will be passed to the alternate viewer. If you want all files that would not normally be passed to the alternate viewer to be passed to MasterBrowse, set this field to "0" or leave it blank. 5. The last step is to tell MasterBrowse which file types should be processed by the alternate viewer. There are twenty editable fields available for this purpose, so even GemView can be used as an alternate viewer. NOTE: All information entered is case sensitive; "*.JPG" is not the same as "*.jpg". That is all there is to it! Click on the "Install" button, and the installation program will immediately begin working. If you have made an error in input, the installation program will alert you and provide detailed instructions on how to proceed. When the installation is complete, please follow the final instructions that the installation program will give and then reset your system so that the changes can take effect. -Michel Forget Electric Storm Software January 1, 1995
