Released v1.0 as freeware. 01/8/90 - V1.1 Internal changes to display routines. Added 212 (NY) and enhanced data organization for ease of future updates. 01/13/90 - Optimized searching routines and added time zone routines. Added TIME command for setting of system clock. Added Metro (city) data and code. Adjusted screen displays to allow more info per screen. Changed HELP screens to GFA Companion generated code 01/20/90 - Fixed typos that caused Oregon to list wrong cities and New Orleans to list out as being in Kentucky. 01/28/90 - v1.2 Enhanced Canadian listings, added NFDLND Time, and the dialing codes for pseudo-area codes. 02/20/90 - v1.3 Fixed error with Atlantic/Eastern time zone. Needed to adjust all time zone definitions. Also added a bunch more Canadian cities and future California area codes. 03/16/90 - v1.4 (never released to public) Added 17 new area codes (and other dialable 3 digit #'s) Added 35 cities. Corrected error with 717 (PA) and 716 (NY) 03/25/90 - v2.0 Code overhaul to support desk accessory and program requirements in one program. Disallowed HELP screens in .ACC version in order to conserve ~25K of RAM. Updated HELP screens to reflect changes. Released first README.TXT with the archive. 07/28/90 - v2.1 released. Newfoundland time is now correctly calculated (it was 30 minutes too slow in earlier versions). Removed the "loading" message when run as a DA. Canadian city listings have been almost completely re-done. Corrected problem with misaligned columns when local time was between XX:30:XX and XX:39:XX RAM requirements have increased by about 5K. 08/7/90 - v2.1a released to registered owners. Area Code 612 (MN) will now correctly show as being in the Central time zone. Fixed an unreported bug that would have caused a failure to recognize the configuration setting of AREACOD0.ACC (but not .PRG). 10/1/90 - v2.1a is released to the general public via the online services and BBS systems. 10/12/90 - v2.1b is released to registered owners. This version removes the 'clear screen' command when Area Code is running as an ACC. It turns out that clearing the screen with a desk acc is a bad idea since it will cause cosmetic conflicts with Hotwire and Multidesk, and possibly the standard GEM desktop. 02/23/91 - v2.2 is released to the general public and registered owners. This version fixed a cosmetic bug that would occur with multiple failed searches when running as a desk accessory. It added International Long Distance Country Codes for 90 countries. All of the data has been converted to lower case (thanks WordPerfect!) to allow for better readability, and the help screens have been redone (and reduced in size) to reflect the new changes. Labrador City for 709 and Sydney for 902 have been added to the city listings. 10/12/91 - v3.0 A total re-write of the user interface has prompted this major jump in version numbers. Area Code now uses a standard GEM interface for all operations. It now operates as either a .PRG or .ACC program only, the option to run as a .TOS program has been removed due to the GEM requirements. The amount of RAM required by the program has been reduced by about 30K. The International Long Distance Country Codes, added in the last revision, have been removed due to lack of user feedback. A future product may be written specifically for Country Codes if enough interest is shown. A separate configuration utility has been written, since it is unlikely that most users will need to permanently change their configuration on a regular basis. A users manual has been added to the distribution package, and CodeKey macros have been included for those using CodeKeys from CodeHead Software. The maximum number of cities for each area code is now six. If you have suggestions about which ones should (or shouldn't) be included for your area please let me know. Some cities have been removed due to this new limitation. New area codes for the San Francisco Bay area have been added, area code 317 in Indiana will now show as Eastern time, and time calculations for Hawaii have been corrected. 1/01/92 - v3.0a This minor update will hopefully fix the problem with ACL and AC_CONFG bombing on machines running TOS 2.05 I say "hopefully" because the problem appears to be the fault of GFA's compiler and there may not be much I can do to get around it. I have also fixed the bug, this one really is mine, that would cause ACL to bomb if it was unable to allocate enough RAM upon loading. Now you'll get a nice polite dialog box informing you of the situation. Finally, the cities for the new area code in Maryland have been corrected, and Santa Barbara has been added to the list for area code 805. ************ Comments and error reports can be sent to the author: Gordon R.
