Hello all you hackers out there. This is Maxwell your friendly neighborhood editor writer. If you have any requests please let me know about them I love writing these things. Also if you have any problems with my programs please let me know as well. About the only people that use these programs until now was a handful of my friends. I think it is great that people from all over the country will be downloading these programs. Anyway the reason that i am writing this little letter is because the latest program that i would like to upload is not as user friendly as i would like it to be. It is also a little flaky. Anyway lets get to it. I have written a couple of programs that assist you in doing well in the game rogue. 1. ROGUEFIX.TTP - this program will boost your mace to +255 +255 and give you 9 food, but there are a couple things you have to do first. The first thing to do is start the game as normal. Then as soon as the game starts go over to your pack and single click your mace. A box will open and allow you to type a desc. of your mace. Type "mace" in lower case just as i have here and hit return. Then go over to your food and single click it as well. This time type in "food" in lower case and hit return. Thats it. Now save the game. After your back to desktop insert the disk with this program and double click this program. When the box opens up,cause this is a ttp file, type in the name of your save game. Make sure you include the device type and the .sav at the end. You should type something like this,"a:maxwell.sav". The program will load and ask you to insert the disk with the save game. Insert the disk in the proper drive and hit a key. The program will tell you what its doing. If the program tells you it cannot find your food or mace you may have to repeat the above steps. This program is very flaky and sometimes does not work, but if it does you are going to have one fun game. Oh yea, here are a few hints to increase the programs chances of working. After you make the mod to your save game. Go back to rogue and load the save game as normal. BEFORE you do anything go over to your pack and just click it open. I have had problems when i dont do this. And if it does not work you will know it. You will get about 3 bombs, the screen will turn blue and it will shoot you back to desktop. If this happens dont worry just try again. Also if you are going to try this on a game in progress i suggest that you make a backup copy of the same game before you run this program. Well please dont get mad at me if this thing does not work right, is has nine times out of ten for me, so i think you should not have any problems. 2. REDIT3.TTP - Wow, I did not realize that there was that much to say on the program previous to this one. Hopefully i can get away with fewer words in explaining this one. This program is not as bad as the one above. But there are a few things that you have to be careful of. This program allows you to edit your existing inventory. But before you run out and jump for joy you have to be very carful not to blow your inventory. Hmmmm...i dont even know where to start...ok insert the disk with this program on it and double click the file. When the box opens this time you just type in your characters name. The program will add the A: and the .sav. For example in this case i would just type "maxwell" instead of "a:maxwell.sav". When the program loads insert the disk with the save game on it and hit a key. A menu will appear with the various items that you can edit. Ok the rest it straight forward just follow the menu. Ok now for the things to watch out for. The program will show you what you accually have in your inventory. If you have a lot of things in your inventory that you have not identified you might have a hard time of it. The program will not list the potions as a blue one or a red one or whatever. It will list them as a potion of healing or whatever. So if you have not identified any of your potions you will know that you have potion of healing but you will not know which one it is. Ok, next thing, the program will allow you to change things that are already in your inventory not add things to it. For example if you have a ring of monster aggrevation you can turn it into a ring of regeneration. and so on. Next on the watch out list and probably the most important thing. When changing an item the program will also ask you how many of that item you want. DO NOT get carried away and type in something like 255. You inventory will probably explode. The best thing to do is just type in the number of the item you changed. For example if the program tells you that you have 2 potions of poison and you change it to a potion of healing, when the computer asks you how many you want you should type in 2. Now to explain the bug that i cannot get rid of no matter how hard i try. When the computer lists the items in your inventory you may notice some items that you dont have. Now in the case of the wands, rings, and scrolls you may not have it. But that scroll or whatever is somewhere on that level. For example if the program tells you that you have a ring of searching and you sit back and scratch your head and say "I don't have a ring of searching." Your right you dont BUT that ring is there somewhere on that level. Same goes with the scrolls and wands. The potions are a different story for some reason the stupid thing lists stuff like 24 potions of poison. and you know you dont have that many and there is no way there are that many in one pile. So be very very very very careful when editing potions. If you know there is no way that there can be that many leave it alone. The problem shows up more and more the farther you get in the game. The first couple of times you run the program it probably will not show up. As i said with the program above you should BACKUP your save game BEFORE you run this program. Also as i said above as soon as you reload the save game that you have modified go over to your pack and make that window the active window. Well that is all i can think of. i hope i have covered everything. These programs where not done with the average user in mind so please forgive me i am working on makeing my programs more user friendly. Oh yea, and when you edit the wands the program will raise every wand you change to 99 charges. Wow my arm is hurting from all this typing.
