                     LAST-MINUTE CHANGES TO VERSION 2.0
                ===========================================

Sorry about the last minute changes, I felt they were necessary
to smooth operation of the program plus giving it considerably more
versatility, especially for those with harddrives. I did not have
time to correct the other doc files.

1.) All files can be placed on a harddrive now. When the
program is first run it will check the current directory (the one that
VE.PRG was run from) and load all *.SCR files found there and the
VE_MCMDS.DAT file if it is found there as well. After this it will
check to see if the CONFIG.DAT file is there as well. If that file is
not found the program will display a fileselector box asking you to
find it (double-click on it). If that file does not exist as of yet then set the fileselector to the correct
directory you want it to be created in and then select OK. If it is
on another disk then now is the time to change disks and then double-
click on the CONFIG.DAT file. Obviously, if you have a harddrive then
you should put all the files in the same directory as the VE.PRG file
and then if you have a clock-card you won't have to do anything once
the program is run. Also, the VE_GAME.DAT file will be created in the
same directory as the CONFIG.DAT file is located in.

2.) If the year is 1991 or greater and CONFIG.DAT does exist
in the designated directory then you will not be required to input the
date and time. This allows complete auto-setup of the system (ie. in
a power failure) if you have a clock-card, CONFIG.DAT and all the
other files are in the same directory as VE.PRG, and your system is
set up to autoboot VE.PRG. If the year is less than 1991 then you
will be asked to input the time and date.

If your system is set up like mine where you have a boot disk
and a work disk then the CONFIG.DAT file is not on the boot disk. The
program will come up with a fileselector box and ask you where is
CONFIG.DAT. You can now switch the disk to the work disk and then
double-click on the CONFIG.DAT file or press RETURN if it is displayed
   in the current directory.

3.) The DBase section has been added to the News Area. It is
generic in the sense that it only reads a FULL path input in the
config section (ie. F:\DBASE\*.TXT). Only the first 8 characters are
displayed to choose from. This directory is checked each time you
enter the News Section, therefore, you can easily add or delete files
from this directory. Maximum 20 files, no files can be greater than
32K in size. Please, ASCII only!

4.) The directory of where CONFIG.DAT is has been added to the
end of the VE_GAME.DAT file. If you write an online game module then
you may need this info. You do not need to add it to the end when
returning to the main program. Remember, the VE_GAME.DAT will now be
stored in the game directory, this will be the default directory when
   the game module is run.

5.) Everytime the program saves the config.dat file, it saves
   a backup file as well.

6.) The bottom info bars will stay on the screen when a user
accesses one of the game files. However, the time/date and the time
remaining and the credits will not be updated until they return to the
   main program.

7.) This program was written and compiled in GFA Basic 3.5
rather than version 3.0. GFA and GFA BASIC are trademarks of GFA
Systemtechnik; 27 Congress Street; Salem, MA 01970; (508)-744-0201.

8.) When you crunch the password file you will be asked if you
would like Auto crunch or Selected crunch. If you select Auto crunch
you will be asked for a cutoff-date. Enter the date in the format of
11/14/1991. Then, while the computer is crunching the file it will
leave out all the people who have not called since that date. The
name, handle, and last call date will be displayed for each and
whether or not it was skipped or saved. If you want to keep them all
irregardless then press [RETURN] by itself for the cuttof-date.
