SEARCHER (Version specific release notes.)

Version 1.1 (Feb 14, 1992)
****************************
- Version 1.0 had a "Murphy's law" bug: After many days of testing it
and being certain of its stability, I changed a single seemingly
innocent line of code before the final compile that ended up causing
it to bomb and reset the computer quite at random. That was
obviously taken care of in this version. No more tears. (I hope)

- Color! Yes, version 1.1 runs in ST medium resolution now too. And
is guaranteed to wake you up if you're tired of your usual system
colors. (Don't worry, I put your old ones back after.)

Known problem (and this is really minor but will be fixed
eventually anyway):

There is a GEM function called FORM_CENTER() that centers dialog
boxes on the screen for you. In TOS versions before TOS 1.04, it
snapped the dialog boxes to the nearest 8 screen pixels. That causes
the INFO dialog box to shift over slightly on older machines causing
it to look a little unbalanced. I know, I know.. I'll fix it!

By the way, currently 0 people have sent in the $10.00 to pay for
this program and I thank those people from the bottom of my heart. If
it weren't for their generosity, I'd probably be sleeping on a park
bench somewhere with a cardboard box for a blanket. And for the rest
of you I have a special time-limited offer. If you send in your money
in the next, oh say 2 months, you can have it for 90% off! That's
right, send only $10.00 (oh, didn't I mention that the price has gone
up to $99.95?) <chuckle>

If you have any bugs to report, my GE-mail address is: CHERRY.FONTS
If you want to help test future versions, let me know, I'm having
trouble finding people to play with it before I upload it to GEnie.

Version 1.0 (Jan 31,1992)
**************************
The only thing to know about this version is that it only supports
monochrome (ST high resolution.) It may support medium res. also
eventually if I can get my hands on a colour monitor for testing.

A peculiarity I've just noticed is that searching [] is MUCH slower
than searching []. This may have something to do with reading
successive records from the hard drive. Reading them backwards may be
something the file system (or my ICD booter cache) doesn't handle too
efficiently. It may just be a flaw in my search routine. If I figure
it out, I'll issue an update but don't hold your breath.
