Atari User Groups Exposed! Copyright 1994 G. Richard Yamagata This hopefully will be a regular feature of STeve's AtariNOTES! Each month we will say a little about Atari User Groups around the world and the BBSs that they sponsor. This month we will highlight the president of one of these valuable Atari Resources for users of Atari computers. J Gerber is a familiar name on the Atari ST echo. He has continued to be an enthusiastic Atari booster and source of information. So, forthwith is a biograph and information file by J Gerber himself. Copyright 1994 J Gerber STEP is an acronym for ST Enthusiasts of Portland the name of the user group to which I belong, and of which I am President, Newsletter Editor and System Operator of the BBS. Coupled with this, I am also a YABA (Young American Bowling Association) certified coach/instructor which allows me to teach young bowlers from the PeeWees (who use bumpers in the gutter to keep their balls on the lanes) all the way to bowlers on the collegiate levels. That keeps me busy about four days a week, plus my league bowling which keeps me at it two days plus whatever time I can find to get down to the lanes and practice. All in all, I am now busier since my retirement in 1986 than I ever was working eight hours a day. I should have my head examined for ever going to an 8-page newsletter, but change it? Never. J Gerber If there are those that wish to receive this newsletter, you can contact J Gerber through the STEP BBS at 503-297-6542. Exchange subscriptions to J's newsletter are available, or you can always pay the dues and join as a corresponding member. Please remember to support your nearest Atari User Group and Atari Dealer!
