HOW MANY KINDS OF CATHOLIC ARE THERE?

         EASTERN  CATHOLICS  is a conference which is intended  to  present
material which is often not known to Christians, Catholics or otherwise, of
western   origins.    The  enormous  spiritual  and  cultural  heritage  of
Christians of the East is often lost on the West simply because  westerners
are unaware of their own origins.  Perhaps, in presenting what I do here of
my own traditions,  I  can contribute to healing some of the breaches of my
brothers.

Welcome to "EASTERN CATHOLICS" - a fully-public conference, with both read
and write capability.  From time to time I will throw in bits of information
I think might be enlightening, as will others, I hope.  Questions and dialogue
here are encouraged.  On any subject particular to eastern christianity, but
certainly not limited to it.  And welcome to all of you.

         The  material  in  this  conference will begin with  a  series  of
lectures I am giving to my parish during the course of Lent in this Year of
Grace,   1987.    In future weeks I will post once again material found  in
other  conferences on other systems but absent here mostly as a  result  of
lack  of time.    Again,  to provide ease and clarity of  downloading,  the
conference  itself  will  be read-only,  but I would be happy  to  start  a
parallel conference to deal with questions and dialogue,  or we could,  I'm
sure,   use  Father Pat's OPEN RECTORY conference to deal with the  textual
matter.

         Those  of you who have matters of interest which may very well  be
of  a  nature ac to fall under the heading of "EASTERN  CATHOLICS"   please
notify  me.    I'd be happy to have you upload matters  of  either  current
interest or of historical interest, and write access will be provided, or a
subordinate conference set up (in order not to disrupt the flow of a  given
topic).

         I hope you enjoy these subjects.   I can take the time to do this,
now that HISTORIES is finished.
