HandyWipe -- by John Eidsvoog Freeware Sunday, September 22, 1991 Included: HNDYWIPE.PRG - the program HNDYWIPE.TXT - this file HandyWipe allows you to do automatic or manual cold resets of your Atari ST. Its main purpose is to delay the booting of your computer until your hard drive has had a chance to spin up. This lets you turn on one switch for your entire computer system and automatically boot up without further user action. If you simply copy HNDYWIPE.PRG into the AUTO folder of the floppy disk in drive A, it will continue doing cold resets until your hard disk auto boot driver takes over. HWIPExxx.PRG ------------ You can force a delay by copying HNDYWIPE.PRG into the AUTO folder of the floppy disk in drive A and renaming it to HWIPExxx.prg, where "xxx" is the number of seconds to wait before rebooting. For example, naming it HWIPE12.PRG will cause HandyWipe to wait 12 seconds (a message on the screen will inform you of the delay value) and then execute a cold boot. If this is timed correctly (and your hard disk does not mysteriously disallow this type of activity ), your computer will reboot from your hard drive, bypassing the floppy disk. Desktop Operation ----------------- When you run HandyWipe from the desktop, an alert box will appear allowing you to do a cold boot or "Quit" without rebooting. An extra alert box will verify that you truly want to wipe all memory before rebooting. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HandyWipe is freeware and may be distributed freely as long as it remains in its unaltered state.
