ISBN2.ACC, ISBN2.PRG Update 31/05/94 ISBN.ACC has been modified to use the same window interface as ISBN.PRG. As a result, there is no longer a separate resource file. Ignore any references to the Resource File in the following text. ISBN.ACC and ISBN.PRG are not interchangeable. ---------------------------------------------------------------- ISBN2.ACC and ISBN2.PRG are programs that can verify whether or not an International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is valid or not. ISBN2.ACC is a desk accessory that loads in a resource file, ISBN2.RSC. ISBN2.PRG is a standalone program that utilises a window for its interface with the user. ISBN2.PRG does not require a resource file, and it cannot be run as a desk accessory. (When I get my Lattice C Compiler then I'll get into all those snappy tricks!) Enter a ISBN at the prompt, and ISBN2 will tell you whether or not the number is valid or not. Note that ISBN2 will only work with numeric ISBN codes and will not work with the numbers that have letters such as 'Y' in the middle. (I don't know what you're supposed to do with those letters as my reference material never even suggested the existence of such numbers). The letter X appearing at the end of an ISBN is correctly translated, however. When typing in an ISBN, it is permissable to type in all punctuation that may be in the number such as hyphens and spaces. ISBN2 will strip these characters out. ISBN2 (PRG,ACC,TXT and RSC) are freely distributable programs, and there is no charge for these programs. Postcards are always welcome, however.
