1) Purpose:

     If you own a bicycle which has more than 6 speeds, you 
probably don't know which is the proper order of the combinations 
of gears from lowest to highest.  

    This program calculates the ratio of all gears to each other 
and puts them in order.  It then draws a diagram of the fixed 
to the free wheels and tells you how much distance you travel in 
each gear per turn of the pedal crank.  


2) Language:

     You may choose to have the program work in French or English.
An alert box presents you with this choice at the beginning of 
the program.  


3) Operation:

    The program starts with an example of the gear ratios of a 
fictitious 18 speed bicycle.  It then asks you to enter the 
information for your own (or your dream) bicycle in the following 
format:

     i)Number of fixed wheels (those are the sprocket wheels 
       attached to your pedals).
    ii)Number of teeth on each of the fixed wheels
       (these are usually engraved on each fixed wheel, if not you 
       must count them).
   iii)Number of free wheels (those are the sprockets wheels 
       on the back wheel)
    iv)Number of teeth on each of the free wheels.
       (these are usually engraved on each free wheel, if not you 
       must count them).
     v)Diameter of the wheels on your bicycle in inches or 
       centimeters.

     From the above information the program will calculate the 
ratios and put them in order. 


4) Printing:

     Unfortunately at this time the program does not print out 
the information.  If you need it (and you should), I suggest that 
you capture the screen with a snapshot accessory and then print 
it out using Degas, Publishing Partner or some other graphic 
compatible program.  Ideally you should reduce the size of 
the picture to the size needed for pasting on your handlebars.
