ALTYPDSK.TOS works with DEGAS Elite in low resolution. It creates a visual catalog of picture files on your disks. Install the script by double-clicking on it, then press any key to return to the desktop. Start DEGAS Elite. Select the drive where the pictures will be coming from. (If you want to catalog pictures in a folder, set Degas to that folder by loading some picture from it). Now start the script by pressing Control+Alt. This script will automatically load and catalog all picture files compatible with Degas Elite - PI1,PI2,PI3,PC1,PC2,PC3,NEO,PIC and IFF. The script starts by setting the default palette and selecting the smallest font for filenames. Then it loads the first picture to workscreen 1, reduces it to 80x50, stamps it in the upper left corner of workscreen 2 and types its filename below it. It continues in the same fashion, placing 4 small pictures in each row, 3 rows per screen. If you have more than 12 pictures it will go to workscreen 3, then 4 - all the way to 8 if necessary. When your first disks runs out of pictures the script will draw a border on the catalog screen marking the end of the current disk, ring the bell 3 times to get your attention, then pause. Insert a new disk and press Control+Left Shift to continue (pressing Control+Alt will restart the script from the very beginning, erasing the pictures from the previous disks!). You can continue in the same fashion until Degas Elite runs out of workscreens (84 pictures if all 8 screens are available). Before resuming the script with Control+Shift you can type the name of the previous disk on the current catalog screen (alas, ST Control cannot read from labels..). The script will return to the menu screen automatically. If you're cataloging a hard disk, point Degas Elite to a different folder when the script pauses. To do that you'll have to load something from that folder (use Load Image, not Load Pic, to avoid changing the palette).
