16_TRACK.PRG This is a short description off 16_TRACK.PRG. I will not explain obvious mouse click commands like record, play etc. You can use allmost every command while the sequenser is running (no need to stop it). Works only in high screen resolution. Works on all ST(E), even 520 ST. RECORD up to sexteen tracks in sexteen different patterns. Highlighted track is current one. To change track, click on space where you enter track name. To change PATTERN, click on pattern number. All values you change inside pattern is non-destructive (they don't change events in memory, eg. real time altered). QUANTIZATION alters memory but is still reversible (changes note on, keeps note length the same). Tracks MIDI CHANNEL is 1 - 16, this is also the MIDI THRU CHANNEL. NO outputs all channels (the channels you see in the event editor). LOOP values are in quarter notes. You can change the VELOCITY and TRANSPOSE value. A click on the VU-METER will MUTE track. "DRAGGING" a recorded track to the left will delete it. "DRAGGING" a recorded track up or down will COPY or MERGE it. DOUBBLE CLICK on a recorded track and you can name it. (On STE's you must use some kind off mouse button fixer because off bug in TOS). DOUBBLE CLICK on an empty track will initialize it and you can move over to the event editor for inserting (or deleting) events. In ARRANGE mode you can "chain" the patterns you have recorded together in any order and length. You can have different ARRANGE TRANSPOSE values (you can choose two midi channels which will not be transposed see OVERALL SETTINGS) and you can MUTE any track temporarily, (click small icons numbered 1 - 16, black = mute). Uppermost arrange possition is current one and PATTERN LENGTH is shown for this position. You can LOAD and SAVE songs and tracks, and also patterns (as MIDI FILES, one track in a pattern and it is saved as format 0, two or more tracks will be saved as format 1). You can save while running and also load tracks. 16_TRACK.PRG can't store system exclusive events (ignores them) and no sync capability (yet), because most people never use it and you can't get everything for free! You can enter the EVENT EDITOR while running and inside it you can do anything except record (scrolling BARCOUNTER moves to new position). CLICK on "insert note" is obvious, click on "other" will insert program change etc. Click on "change" will change event (not note on or off) to other event. Click or "scroll" on any value will change it. To COPY to another pattern, use menubar COPY function. Here you can also copy just a part of a track (PART COPY). MERGING tracks will alter events in memory so merged track sound the same as the two unmerged tracks. If they have different midi channels the merged track will display NO, that is, all 16 midi channels can be output from track. So if you MERGE to an initialized, empty track you can alter transpose, velocity and midi channel on all events on a track with just one command. Good for preparing MIDI FILES! QUANTIZATION will be as before regardless off the value you see. You can scroll any value (even while running) and this is how to change BARCOUNTERS. Left mouse button increases value, right decreases. Adding other button will speed up process. In OVERALL SETTINGS you can dissable midi channels for a arrange transposing, midi thru off channel, choose events which will be filtered out (will not be recorded or output via midi thru) and choose midi channel, note number and velocity for midi click note. With PUSH TRACK you can move track forward or backward (alters position off MIDI EVENTS). Keyboard shortcuts: QWERTY keypad: SOLO "S", ARRANGE ON-OFF "A", EVENT EDITOR "E", PUSH TRACK "P". Choose pattern (1 - 0 is pattern 1-10, shift + 1 - 6 is pattern 11 - 16). Name track (ESQ), Up and down arrows changes track. HELP key resets all controllers etc. DELETE deletes arrange position, INSERT inserts new arrange pos. Calculator keypad: RECORD "*", PLAY "0" STOP "Enter", PAUSE/CONTINUE ".", Change arr position "(" and ")", Stop key sends all notes off message. Please include this mini manual if you give away copys off program. Update is œ10 and for you programming freaks, source code is œ15.
