                                    SDUTIL

SDUTIL will allow you to extract file records from a
SuperDirectory data file. File records to be extracted are
specified by listing up to 20 file extensions. If you have listed
all your files in one large SuperDirectory data file you can
easily extract all program file records by specifying all program
file extensions such as: prg, tos, ttp, acc, etc. Picture files
records could be extracted by listing pc1, pc2, pc3, neo, spc,
img, etc. The specification of file extenders is made easier by
the assignment of macros to Function keys F1 to F5. A list of
file extensions can be assigned to each of these keys. The
       assignments can also be saved.

       Detailed Instructions -

Copy the files SDUTIL.PRG, SDUTIL.RSC, and FKEY.DAT to the
same folder. To run, double click on SDUTIL.PRG. A standard GEM
       menu bar will appear.

First load a SuperDirectory data file (extension .SD) by
clicking on LOAD under the File title. The file selector will
appear. Select a file to be loaded as usual. You will be informed
of the total number of records in the chosen file.

You may then specify file records to be extracted by
clicking on SELECT under the Filter title. A cursor will appear
in the bottom line of the display window. You may now enter the
file extensions or press the appropriate Function key. Always
type three characters for each extension - use space if
necessary. The line may be edited with the Delete and Backspace
keys. Clr/Home will clear the line. If you pressed the wrong
Function key, just press another - the line will be replaced with
the macro assigned to the last Function key pressed. When you are
satisfied with the list of extensions, press Return. You will be
informed of the number of extracted records.

You may then save the extracted records to a SuperDirectory
data file by clicking on SAVE under the File title. A File
Selector will appear. Save the file as usual.

If you want to extract another set of file records just
SELECT another Filter and SAVE. All of the original records
remain in memory, so you may extract as many sets of file records
as you want without having to reload the original file.

If you want to change the macros assigned to the Function
keys, click on EDIT FUNCTION KEYS under the Macros title. You
will then be shown the macros assigned to each function key.
Press the Function key that you want to edit. Use the Delete,
Backspace and Clr/Home keys to edit. When you are finished with a
Function key, press Return. When you are finished editing the
Function keys, press Esc. If you want to save the Function key
definitions, click on SAVE MACROS under the Macro title.
This file is distributed as shareware. It may be distributed
freely as long as all files, including this READ.ME file, are
included. A $10 registration fee is requested. Version 2.0 (or
the latest current version) will be sent to all registered owners
without extra charge. Version 2.0 and up will be distributed to
registered owners only. It may not be freely distributed. Version
2.0 will display extracted records on screen, print extracted
records with margins and page numbers, and will allow you to add
records manually (printing formats and the lack of manual record
entry are definitely weaknesses in SuperDirectory).
