Final Thoughts This is the latest and probably last version of the NFL Analyst. After much tinkering with the prediction algorythm, I have finally managed to get the percentage of correct picks above sixty percent. According to an article that I read a few years ago in order to win consistantly in betting on football games you need to average fifty seven percent. The three star system that I use now in the program is even better than that. Predictions that were awarded three stars did not lose in 1989. Two star predictions fared almost as well at 26-6-5. That's an amazing 84%. I have included the stats that I have for the years 1987 and 1988. Keep in mind though that the current method of predicting the scores was not in effect at that time. I have included the files because the team rates for those years were not effected by the change in the prediction algorythm. Consequently it is still possible to look back and see how well a team did in those years. The file NFL_1990.DAT is just a duplicate fo the data file for 1989. In future years you'll have to duplicate the previous year's file yourself and rename it with the current year. I hope you enjoy this latest version of the Analyst. I think it is the best football analyst program available for any computer at any price. If at any time during the coming years it becomes obsolete due to some change in the NFL schedule. Rest assured that a new version will be forthcoming. Good Luck Gerry Genson
