p LUNACY! q p The Manual. q Program by Roderick Martin Program written in STOS Basic Copyright 1991--Network 23 Software p WARNING: q (a) This program will not run if the disk is write- protected. LUNACY! needs the tab off to create and update the high score file. (b) The high score file must be in the same directory as the LUNACY! program (the high score file is created the first time you run LUNACY!) NOTES ON UPLOAD VERSION 1. This program can only be distributed freely if it has not been altered or changed in any way! Distributed copies of LUNACY! MUST contain these documents in original form! In other words, if you want to spread this program around, DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING!!! 2. This is a demo version. The game is limited to 50 pieces, after which, the title screen will scroll down and you can play again. I am sorry I had to try this route, but reg- istrations were pitiful for what I and many people I have talked to consider is a GREAT game! 3. Again, if you want the complete game, send $12 to: NETWORK 23 SOFTWARE 7 Sarah Avenue Springfield, IL 62703 I will send a disk with the latest version of LUNACY! and you will be notified of free upgrades. If you send me less than $12, you will be notified of upgrades, but there will be a $5 upgrade fee. If you send less than $12, you must also send a disk and SASDM (Self-Addressed Stamped Disk Mailer) along with your check and you'll get the non- demo version of Luncay! p NEW FEATURES TO VERSION 3.1 q * NOW COMPATIBLE WITH TOS 1.62 STe's * LEVELS NOW PASS FASTER TO MAKE LUNACY A LITTLE MORE CHALLENGING p NEW FEATURES TO VERSION 3.0 q * EXIT TO DESKTOP WITH CONTROL-C * SAVE CONFIGURATION FILE * REPEAT GAME * START AT DIFFERENT LEVELS I. Introduction and Overview Little blocks of different shapes fall from the sky Move left, right, or rotate so they complete full rows Full rows are deleted and all blocks above fall Goal is to complete as many rows as possible Game is over when a block cannot be placed on the screen II. Shareware I have spent a lot of time on this game and have several other ideas for programs (a MULE-type game, for one) and would appreciate a small donation. If you use this game and would like to recieve free improvements (see Improvements) in the future, send $12.00 to: Network 23 Software 7 Sarah Avenue Springfield, IL 62703 If you send me $12.00 or more, I will notify you when I have a new LUNACY! version, then send me a disk and SASDM (Self-Addressed, Stamped Disk Mailer) to receive the new version and updated doc's... p OR ALTERNATIVELY... q If you have a GEnie account, give me your GEnie address and registration money and I will upload the latest nondemo version of LUNACY! to you. The next time you log on to GEnie, you will have a letter waiting which will inform you of the program waiting and how to download it. This is the best alternative as you don't have to mail disk mailers or figure out postage AND you get the program in HALF the time! III. High Scoring If you get a high score, a high score list is diplayed Cursor indicates where you type your name Characters will be in all caps Backspace to correct mistypes, can't correct 8th character VI. Improvements The fun stuff! I have so many ideas on additional options for LUNACY! Below is a small description of what registered users may expect in the future... DIFFICULTY LEVELS - How about pieces falling from somewhere other than the top of the screen? Or pieces that don't rotate in a predictable manner?...these are all possibilities! Two other ideas may take some time to develop... TWO PLAYER GAME - Two screens, identical pieces, and two players playing at the same time. WOW! Whoever places the alloted number of pieces fastest gets a bonus! ??? - An idea I have that would make LUNACY! an entirely different game! An object would randomly appear on the screen. If you can maneuver a piece over the object before it disappears, you can do something special. Delete a row, place a piece of your choice...or the alternative, a mouth that swallows that four-long piece you've waited sooo long for! ;-) VII. Overview of the Keys MOVE LEFT - moves the block one space to the left. MOVE RIGHT - moves the block one space to the right. ROTATE - turns block 90 degrees clockwise. A future option might allow you to choose the direction it turns. DROP - quick fall, block cannot be turned or moved, but you get more points the higher and faster you drop the block PAUSE - temporarily halts the game. Any key continues. JOYSTICK CONTROL - There is nothing special to activate BUTTON - rotates block PULL LEFT - moves block left PULL RIGHT - moves block right PULL DOWN - drops block VIII.
